Who doesn't love that feeling when you've had one too many Coronas, it's 1:45 a.m., you're in your best indie-kid attire at your local disco and "Bizarre Love Triangle" comes on and sobers you right up to the dancefloor. Well, we've taken this sonic euphoria one step further.

Filter Magazine, Off The Menu Entertainment and Virgin Atlantic present New Order's charismatic bassist Peter Hook (or "Hooky" to his close fans) on a 240-Hour Non-Stop Party People DJ Tour across America, spinning at hot spots such as GBH at Lotus NYC and Miami's indie rock institution Revolver! Check out the dates closest to you below...

September 29 - Baltimore, MD - The Ottobar 30 - NYC - Lotus

October 1 - Buffalo, NY - SoundLab 2 - Chicago, IL - Smart Bar 3 - Madison, WI - The Cardinal 4 - Milwakuee, WI - Mantra Lounge 5 - Austin, TX - The Parish 6 - Denton, TX - Haileys 7 - Miami, FL - Revolver 8 - Orlando, FL - The Social

Got to see Hooky and Arthur Baker DJ at Mansion in South Beach for the WFTSC release party. Funny thing is was that Hook was just kind of standing around the stage before the show started (I managed to jump backstage when the bouncer wasn't looking). He was just standing there by himself, I couldn't believe it. I just walked up to him and said "Hi, Mr. Hook I am HUGE fan" and shook his hand. Stupid I know; but he was really nice and we ended up talking for about 15 min before Baker started DJing.

We talked about the new album, how much he liked working with Stephen Street, and about his rig during the JD days. He doesn't even have the same pedals anymore! He lost them or they were stolen; he can't remember. He loves Miami and was thinking about buying a condo in South Beach; I told him one was opening in my building and that if he needed to borrow a cup of sugar I'm his guy. He laughed at that.

What a fucking experience! I was on cloud nine for weeks after that.

Anybody doing the Orlando date will PROBABLY have the unique chance to party with AgentWood! ;)

I'll be there for Orlando. And it's on Saturday night! (I work six days a week) Yep, the planets were definitely aligned for this one.

Holy flurking schnitt! I live in Denton, TX - a smallish college town just north of Dallas. I can't believe Hooky will be within the city limits - I better lock up the women!:ignore:

Thanks for that update Spotnik.

And are any of you from the DFW area going to be at the Denton set? If so let me know and I'll be there to buy you a beer.

Not sure if I should do Miami or Orlando.

Maybe both.

AgentWood, what/where is The Social?

it's a small venue in downtown(ish) orlando. i've never been there, but it's known for being the 'indie' venue in orlando. i've only been to three gigs since i've lived here (2 at house of blues and one at the convention center), so it should be interesting.

I think if I remember correctly, The Social used to be Sapphire Supper Club and it is at 54 N. Orange Ave. - it's at the heart of the downtown scene, at the bottom of Orange Ave. in the downtown area - you can't miss it.

I've seen several shows there, sometimes inside, sometimes outside, I dunno what the plan is for Peter Hook though but I can tell you, an outside gig in October in Orlando might be nice so wherever it is, I'm sure people will be reprazentin'.

Anybody considering going to see Hook in Buffalo? I may be there that weekend for my pal's birthday bash. Its my hometown and most of my family still lives there.

I bet the last time a member of new order step foot in buffalo was in 87.

So bring your gear!

is it near the I-bar, then? my knowledge of downtown orlando nightspots is appalling as i haven't lived here long enough to know that part of the city that well (i live next to universal), nor have i been interested in going out enough to care (although i did frequent the I-bar for a number of months).

I'll try to make Denton or Austin... I'm broken, I don't know if I'll make it at all. But hell Hooky in Texas!! I gotta move my arse down yonder.

But I've never been to either these venues or cities even. And Denton...?? :confused2: What's up in Denton? Why not San Angelo or Lubbock then?

Denton is a city north of Dallas. And I will be there!

Do you know when tickets will be available for Denton (Dallas), Nic?

It looks like you can get tickets for both Orlando and Chicago on ticketmaster.com right now.

I'm trying to get tickets for you guys.

So far I asked for Orlando and Austin, as it seems to be the only places where more than 1 person would go ;)

Denton is a "college" town...University of North Texas...about an hour north of Dallas...

and probably only 30 minutes from DFW airport...but it is a lively little town...I've spent more than one drunken night there!!!

not sure why Hooky would be there instead of Dallas proper...but what the hell do I care...he'll be right here in Austin...

oh...and I will NOT be doing the Denton thing...since it's in the middle of the work week...it's all I can do to make Wednesday night here in Austin!!!

Well April, if you came to Austin, I'd be more than happy to pay your way in....

oops...is that the beer talking???

of course, it would cost you much more to get here than it would for me to get you a ticket!!! so it seems like it's not even a wash!!!

bwahahahahahaha

by the way...seems I've managed to gather up a gang of eight for the event here!!!!

Well I'm in Denton for one!:smoking:

Denton actually has two colleges - The University of North Texas (third largest school in the state with 30K+ students, known for it's radio/TV/film school and music programs) and Texas Women's University. If there is an Austin Jr. in Texas then Denton is it.

There are over 100,000 people here so the town isn't completely off the map, but being a thirty minute drive from either Dallas or Fort Worth we are often forgotten.

BTW, my offer of a free beer to anyone showing up is still good. To my understanding there won't be advance tickets sold, but if they go on sale I'll post it here. Hailey's always has a DJ set on Thursday nights and so far they have not really advertised for this.

And sorry to anyone in Lubbock, but Hooky has far better taste than that.:shades:

C'mon, Jeff, let's join us.

Actually it's a question for me where to go to - either Denton or Austin - both are equally far away from me.

i went to the one at hiro after the NYC gig. some were dancing, some were sitting and enjoying themselves. he played a variety of music, as i recall. there were a few songs i didn't recognize, but a lot of dance and indie music from the 80s-now.

In Chicago, most people were staring to the booth and not dancing.

In New York City, Hooky was in open air on a podium, so it was much better for that. Many people were dancing, but there was plenty of room around.

I said it before and I'll say it again...Musically I was satisfied although I think flowise he was a little erratic. Technically he needs a lot of practice.

I'm sorry but I'm a picky fuk when it comes to DJs being one myself...

I don't play an instrument for this very reason although I'm sure if I did I'd be very good at it after lots of practice.

atmosphere in NYC was OK...I was dead tired from flying back from Houston that very day.

It's not related to the matress Kamar, it was related to getting home at 6AM and leaving at 11AM with about 10 people in your appartment leaving at different hours. And we did that 2 days in a row... in my case it was 3 days in a row because I couldn't sleep before going to Chicago :evil4:

I have no idea how Mike and you survived through this... hehe.. I was also unable to sleep the next day because I didn't want to miss the plane :evil4:

And yes, Lisa was able to make me dance.. I'm pretty sure she could melt artic if she wanted also ;)

As for dancing in New York, I walked all day in New York City... spent the whole New Order show on the side DANCING (yes, you read it) with the band's management on the side, and then we went to the DJ set, I was really exhausted and my knee (remember, I had surgery last year) started to hurt..

Obviously, I wasn't drunk enough, that's the problem :p plus, there was so many people at Hiro it was even hard to stand up because of the lack of space..

I pretty much enjoyed my stay in Chicago and thank you for being the host... I hope I'll be able to give back someday if you ever want to visit here!

To all the people asking 'Why Denton'. Check out what else is playing that weekend at haileys.

Saturday, October 8 Wolf Eyes Prurient

Wed Oct 12 Black Dice

It's a small town with a high concentration of cool people who WILL be at good shows. That is why bands come to Denton. They usually skip the Greenville avenue frat daddy crowd to get to one thats a little more forgiving. Mark Kozelek was at Hailey's last week because he actually had to ask someone to get off their cellphone the last time he played at Gypsy Tea Room.
