ok i dont like dwelling on the fact that my favorite band of all time will one day cease to exist so to speak but as sure as eggs are eggs it will happen one day.
which got me to thinking that IF i was at new orders final gig EVER and it came to the last song that they would ever play as a unit live again, which one would you like it to be.
at first i thought "ceremony" finish it as they started so to speak but then i started to think that they have done so many cracking songs over the years i really could not make up my mind as which would be the final performance ect.
anyone else got any ideas??![]()
the final curtain

i think they'd end it all with an extended version of LWTUA - i'd want that to be the ringing in my ears as i walked out of the venue where NO played their final live performance
They should do a segue (so shoot me)...
Temptation into EGG into Transmission into Digital into LWTUA.
I'd then go to my grave happy.
The thing is though- they will never know and we will never know when the final gig will be... more than likely they will carry on with occassional live gigs, after a final release, until either Hooky or Barney start pushing up the daisies (God willing; not any time soon!).
It'd be Blue Monday. No question of it. It always is. There won't be a grand finale, it'll just happen.
Yep. Thats the way it will end. Of course, it might have already ended. If we're lucky they might finish with KW1, but it'll be either blue monday or World in motion.
To include a more morbid possibility in here... :rip:
Do you think the band will go on until of of them pass away, or they will simply don't release anything or "retire" ?
I said it would be morbid ;)
They will release one more proper LP.
After that it will be the occassional ripping off of fans with ever more collections / anthologies / greatest hits / best ofs / rarities.
They will also continue to do the odd special event live gig until either Barney or Hooky pops their clogs.
That's what my crystal balls tell me...
Blue Monday seems too...obvious, as would just about anything that appears on Substance. Still, what about "Temptation"; it's supposedly Barney's favorite NO song.
Of course, it would be very un-New Order to close their final show with any kind of "gesture", or even a big hit. Part of their genius is the fact that looking for overt symbolism in the things they do has often been a pretty fruitless endeavor. So, in light of that, I'll toss the idea out there that they'd close with something way out of left field, or at least something unexpected. Age of Consent, maybe? Touched by the Hand of God? Fine Time? Transmission? Run Wild? Rock the Shack? Young Offender? Face Up? Every Second Counts? Weirdo? You see where I'm going with this...
i think they would play their last show without the knowledge it was going to be their last.a couple of years after maybe they`ll feel like not ever doing one.so any show could be the last![]()

Do you suggest they are not immortals ?!? … Well, I think they'll simply retire !

I think we wont even know what their final show will be. They will just randomly decide to quit.
It has to be Ceremony, bringing things full circle. Either that, a 45 minute version of Elegia, or LWTUA with Ian's ghost appearing on stage. My hair's standing on end just thinking of that...

I was just gonna say that. Blue Monday. Oh well.
