What would this singles collection would do? We do have almost all tracks from Substance, Best of and International with Sirens. I am laughing. My thoughts exactly :abovelol: .

The DVD was a great idea but having this is rediculous. But wouldve been better if was waited after 2006 release or after that if so. My vote is both option 3 and 4

What do you think?

entirely unnecessary.

but i'll buy it anyway, of course.

If it gathers new fans, then I'll be happy.

I'm not buying it though.

I got into NO through the slated International best of, so the power of a best of should never be underestimated.

Happy birthday btw ;)

I don't know if I'll have to buy it, but I'll do it if I have to... there are some items on this that are interesting, like Temptation 7".

It's just too bad it's not complete.

who honestly thinks NO is hard up for extra cash? are they back to partying again and need the extra cash? are they doing it in support to make a new album for 2006?

:p

What the hell is going on?

First we have the promise of a botched 7" collection (no 586, no Someone Like You, no Murder, no alternate release versions) containing nothing new (apart from maybe 'Run2')...

And now, based on what i can see on the NOOL homepage, they're going to release some more 12" remixes of old songs.

I may be a huge new order fan, but this is a double insult!

Where are the unreleased rarities? Why isn't the compilation comprehensive? Does this mean that 'waiting for the sirens left overs' will be delayed until 2007???

Soon, they'll be catching up with Elvis in the re-release / rehash stakes!

Its disgusting. At this rate New Order will have released more compliations than actual studio albums. Totally insulting. Are there still some Hacienda debts that we dont know about? Or are the child support agencies onto Barney and Hookys back?

I'll buy it. Baahh!

Well, I'll be interested in buying it....but the releases are getting a bit old. I however don't think it's the band releasing all these collections. I'm not 100% sure that International was the bands idea, and I don't really know if "The Rest Of" was eihter. I've just noticed that a lot of English bands have tons of Best Of's...Just look at The Smiths for example. A Best Of 1, Best of 2, the Singles, and another Best of was released just a little while ago. So while I know Substance and The Best of were indeed done with the band being involved, it seems that Rest of and International were "if you want to put it out, do it" kind of things. I don't really count Retro in all of that because a box is just different. Of course, the more things there are that I don't have ( Run 2, if it is Run2, and the various edits or an extra disc of material ), the more interested I'll be.

I wouldn't touch at, as I see International as being close enough to a singles collection already; and we're rapidly approaching the complitation to real album parity ratio already.

I thought this collection consisted of live tracks? Dídn't the news article display dates next to each song?

You forgot to mention that next year The Smiths will be having a 4 disc or 6 disc boxset. But that's a bit off topic. I agree with the rest of your post though.

I have a feeling that there might be a limited edition with a second disc, but hey, who knows!

It would be funny if either did include a hidden track too!

Obviously it's not necessary. I've got quite a lot of the 7" (always been much more keen to buy albums AND all 12"), but it's NEWorder and I'm beyond salvation when it comes to them...

I don't see a problem with the release, if you don't want it don't buy it.

It will soak up any of new fans gained from singles and festivals who don't care enough to look for albums, but if they see it on the New Release shelf in HMV will buy it.

I'm just gonna burn my own (for personal use only naturally!), making sure I insert Video 586 (edit), Murder and Someone Like You.

I'll buy it but just to keep the collection updated.I'm not a great fan of New Order 7" edits though. It'll be a good buy for the new fans though. One concern relating to the Temptation 7". wasn't the original 7" release the same as the 12" but played at 33 ?

A chance to have a new great piece of art by Peter Saville

good for newbie NO fans i s'pose, but otherwise TOTALLY unnecessary.

"best of...", "retro" and "international" were all poorly thought out, but we don't need another compiliation..... FOCUS ON GETTING THE NEW MATERIAL RIGHT LADS!

don't know whether this compilation was at the instigation of Warners rather than NO. It has to be said that since NO left Factory, their new label has overmarketed and devalued their back catalogue (unnecessary reissues of TF, BM and 1963 in multiple remix formats, plus the piss poor compilations).

NO's best re-releases have been outside of the Warners/London Label - i.e. Video 586 and the Confusion mixes from a couple of years ago. I'm wondering if NO would be better served at a different label.

"Reissue, repackage, repackage. Re-evaluate the songs. Double-pack with a photograph, extra track and a tacky badge"

I'll probably still get it. :D

Stop painting vulgair pictures.

I think I'll get it too...

Another question about "useless" CD's: Is "New Order" Radio 1 In Session (2004) any good? I do already have The Peel Sessions 81/82, New Order Live in Concert 1987 and the Retro Boxset Live Disc...

no point in me getting it for myself as i already have all them tracks, but i think i'll buy it for my girlfriend
