so maybe "Turn"/"Guilt" is th real third single?

and this 3 X 7" only single is just for fun...?

what's wrong with this? sounds like fun for collectors to me... maybe WFTSC didnt have much of a chance of club play anyway... this actually makes some sense, and the 3 x 7 inches is a cool idea (of course i'll still want the mp3s for digital play, maybe they could sell them for the iPod)

I have fears all that can be found in shop are professional DJ stuff, expensive...

At least here...

I bought one last year. OK, it's cheap as chips (about US$75), but it has a built in preamp and will connect directly to your computer. I think they are made in Canada and they sell them all around the world. Will try and find out the name. I only bought it cause my old stero shit itself and I couldn't live with not being able to play my old vinyl.

I wonder if all kids on this website even saw that a record player is like

I remember a post on the Ladytron board by someone asking what was needed in order to listen to vinyl.

The "for the fans" angle is a nice touch, but it just seems such a shame to waste it on a song which is one of New Order's strongest. It won't get played on the radio and won't trouble the charts which is a pity because it deserves to be heard by a wider audience.

They should have chosen I Told You So. We can all have fun buying the set - and then the fact that most people can't play it won't really matter...

After "Jetstream" being such a "hit", my guess is that Warner wasn't so keen on a 3rd single release. But the band (Barney, that is...) wanted it badly, so a compromise was found. The 7" only release is obviously marketed for the collectors, ie us, not for the general audience!

Well, I, at least, don't collect vinyl.

Neither do I although I used to. All my vinyl is stuck in the loft now and to be honest I'm thinking about getting rid. This scenario has a touch of SLY about it.

I think you could be right. Maybe someone wasn't too keen to get 'WFTSC' released, preferring to get 'Turn' out before Xmas to publicize 'Item' and 'The Singles' for the Xmas market - then they realized that if 'WFTSC' didn't come out as a single, that would muck up the tracklisting for 'The Singles'!

Very odd.

Andy

Will you be adding these 7" to your personal Retro vinyl to cd compendium Andy? If so put me down for a copy.

I worry about sound quality for DJing...

The record company actually feel that by releasing the single in this format they'll be giving something back (?!) to the fans, as they're providing something that's really collectible and special.

I have left out the rest of the email, I think it was meant to remain private, but I'd agree with one thing she said.. they might have overlooked the fact that many people won't even be able to listen to it.

Nic, have you communicated the overwhelmingly negative reaction of "the fans" to your contacts at the record company?

I for one love the idea it's coming out on 7". Yes I do love my vinyl but don't you guys think DVD singles are complete arse? Just hope this comes out in Oz but I'd be highly doubtful.

Hoping to have a better resolution soon :evil4:

Those wanting to get the free wallet, you can register here but I'm sorry to say this is a UK offer only. I'll try to get a few for our website and to give them away (for the price of shipping) for non UK members, since UK members can have it free.

Mp3 from 7" will never be as good as the sound from CD or Mp3 from CD. from now on, my default page on IE6 will be randomly ebay and eil.

I like it... and if it had been the album sleeve it would be a great counterpart to Republic, don't you think?

Just a shame THIS won't be available on 12" ;)

Nice.

I think Warner's are being a bit cunning; they're hoping to get a decent sized mailing list from the details on the link, not that I mind, just so long as it's NO only info. that they send us.

I think it's the whole point.. build a mailing list, so they will be able to announce Item, Singles & the new album.

Offer ends on September 19th, so hurry up people.

Forgot to add... this will be gold on EBay in a few years if it's only available to people in the UK, order it, otherwise you'll get screwed if you never do it.

Remember the Electronic UTEOT single, the Hacienda Flexi, etc... freebies now worthing a lot.

I wonder if it will be announced somewhere else than here? I guess on the single itself.. :confused2: but since the offer is until Sept 19th, I wonder...

Well i think its a canny idea - just hope its on 'fun' coloured vinyl, makes me feel 'young' again, and hopefully some spotty teenagers will buy it & send it into top ten. Mind theres some right 'tits' work for record companies nowadays - why don't they just get 'normal' people to decide whats what. It's getting as much a fiasco as that Babyshambles smack head group :nono:

Because they tought it would offend people who had just suffered from the tsunami in South Asia.

Well, it's a UK only release so far...

Sure, Katrina was quite powerful in Nouvelle Orléans, but I must say, she was quite something even here and much weaker.. my desk was full of water in my house, the winds managed to tear the plastic that patches the whole where my air conditionning is... that's a first in 5 years!!

What's this about releasing three 7" singles? Does that mean no CD release? Seems a very strange piece of marketing to me. I'm all for a bit of nostalgic presentation, but how many people these days still uses a record player...

Could it be the band wanted to release it as a single but the record company didn't, so they're doing some half-hearted thing to placate NO?

I know absolutely nothing about the record biz, so forgive me if this is really ignorant.....

For answers to your questions, please check this thread opened yesterday.

So far, it will not be released on CD, only in this 3x7" format..
