The house where IC topped himself is apparently on the market for ~65K GBP.

They should stick it on ebay, try and get a better price for it there.

25 degrees here in Sydney at 1am. God, I'm missing Engerland ;)

Really ? I'll put in for it - I was only talking to Liv the other day about this house !

Dunno. Just got a text off a lad I know in Cheshire - Alex (Stash), who's fairly infamous in NO circles - sending me on the news. At that price, I'll take ten of 'em!

Right, here's the plan. I will submit a bid for the house, and if I am successful, will allow JD fans from around the world to rent it for holidays, (thus paying for it for me while I carry on living in London :)). That way, everybody is happy. You get to sit in the blue room and relive all those lyrics-writing moments, you get to play clothes-lines to your heart's content, has to be worth it.

Just wonder if the agents are aware of this marketing angle.

Although such a ghoulish sales pitch may be too low even for those guys;)

You don't reckon "Celebrity Death" could be the new big money-spinning market then ? Tony Wilson made a fortune out of it......

Bloody marvelous idea, sloppy ol' chap. Are you that rich:D? We could also start fundraising(one of those typical american habits:D) and buy it as NewOrderonline!! Would be nice to have our own Santiago de Compostella!!!

£65k don't amount to a row of beans, compared to London prices, where you would easily pay three times that amount for a similar property. It also has excellent road and rail access.

What pisses me off is that I've got a £110,000 house in Worcester (comparable prices to Macc), but because of my job am paying £800 a month just for a roof over my head in London in a poxy two bed flat ! That's ten grand off someone else's mortgage every year. To buy this flat would cost me over £200,000. If it wasn't a 3 hour journey each way I'd commute :(

Fuck me, you lot are twisted - almost as bad as those who were recently doing the rounds in Manhattan scooping up ashes from the remains of the World Trade Center to sell to tourists....you've got to draw the line somewhere you know. :nonono::sick:

Glad to see your sense of irony is working well today. You don't actually think any of us would want to set foot in there ? I can't think of anything more eerie than buying that place knowing the history and being a fan. It would be disrespectful, big style.

Holiday in Macclesfield? What's there to do, exactly? From everything I've heard, it's very hickville (kinda like where I live)

Kinda ghoulish, but I suppose whoever had it needs the money. Could it be that the ghost of I.C. is haunting the establishment?

There's loads to do in Macclesfield ! Across the road from 77 Barton Street there is somewhere called South Park , there is somewhere for a drink called Bar Cuba, there's a couple of farms down the road with pop stars living there apparently, it's not far from Manchester.....I could go on, but the noise of your snoring has distracted me :)

:lol:Sloppy you keep amazing me with youradded pics!!This SouthPark one is one of the best so far!!! Question from a non-english: is Macclesfield a town or a suburb about to be annexated(?) by Manchester?

It's a town in its own right, and would be horrified at the prospect of being annexed by Manchester !

Now that NME wrote an article about the house I think everybody knows that. It´s my fault, I was the first one to discover this. When I was in England in October to see New Order live I went to Macclesfield and saw the real estate sign on Ian's house. Back to Brazil I wrote an article for Dynamite Magazine published in December 2001 and last week I told the news to David Sultan from WorldInMotion.

If you want to buy the house you have to rush now. :)

Is there any truth in the rumour that Sultan has hired the band to play him a special tour, or that he has sponsored this particular tour which is why they are doing the same songs every night ?
