shouldn't. I think I'm stretching the definition of "reasonable internet access" as is.

I don't think they can afford another one after investing millions into this one.
I wonder if that is an episode out of Barney's and Hooky's youth... ![]()

Preferred this to the Krafty video though. Wonder what the Turn video will be like.![]()
Bits from the video article:
A teenager from Bridgend is juggling his GCSEs with a starring role in a music video for rock band New Order. Nathan Stadden, 16, a pupil at Ynysawdre School in Tondu, was selected for the leading role in the video by the rock band.
16? Looks younger than that to me!
The video will also feature four other youngsters from the area alongside the band's members.
![]()
Nathan was chosen for the lead role in the video and will see him being chased around various locations in south Wales including Pontypridd, Southerndown and Port Talbot.
Chased around?
He is being joined by four other members of Bridgend Youth Theatre, Daniel Evans from Blaengarw, Maya Grant from Pencoed, Emma Davies from Maesteg, and Helen Davies from Bridgend.
Director of theatre Roger Burnell will play a security guard chasing them along with some of the band members.
it this the video from Belfast Child or Stand by Me? Not sure yet but i'll find out. What the fuck? Is totally crap. If you run out of ideas bring a dog or some drawings on a book again PLEASE ![]()
After this crap i'm really afraid what to expect for Ceremony and Temptation. Please God forgive the director.
Sammy wrote: Reminds me of the movie "My Private Idaho" by Gus Vant Sant about teenage runaways and it's bleak portrayal- nevertheless- an interesting movie to say the least. And also begs to ask "I don't get it?!"
I like it, I guess it wasn't what I was expecting but NO has always 'walked to their own beat'
Cheers!
Just watched the vid-have to agree with Sammy's comments. They've done better, they've done worse. BTW, speaking of Gus Van Sant, has anybody else on here seen Last Days, his recent Cobain-esque effort? I went to see it thanks to Triple J(ABC "yoof" radio network)for nix after logging an entry on thier website. Equal parts tragic and funny.
Spotnick wrote: I thought the band would appear in that video though, that was written in the press article about the shooting...
Back when New Order did really good videos, they would appear in them in minor roles, like a person a street or something. Maybe they make a little cameo in WFTSC?
In history, New Order in their videos has always been almost excluded.
Look at it,
Love Will Tear Us Apart - All there
Ceremony - Live, so all there
In A Lonely Place - Live, so all there
Blue Monday - Not there
Confusion - There, but please, this is video footage
The Perfect Kiss - Studio live recording
Shellshock - There, but, humm..
Atmosphere - Not there
State of the Nation - Live Footage
Bizarre Love Triangle - Live Footage except intro
True Faith - Live Footage
Touched by the Hand of God - That IS a real one.
Blue Monday 88 - Again, all there
Fine Time - Nobody in it
Round & Round - Nobody in it
Run 2 - Live Footage
World In Motion... - All There
Regret - All There
Ruined In A Day - All There Thanks to Keith Allen
World (The Price of Love) - Cameo
Spooky - Nobody in it
Nineteen63 - Nobody in it
Blue Monday 95 - BLT Footage
Temptation 98 - Live Footage
Crystal - Nobody in it
60 Miles An Hour - Postcard cameo
Here To Stay - Played by the 24HPP actors
Krafty - Nobody in it
Jetstream - All in it!!
Waiting For The Sirens' Call - Nobody in it
So in ALL THEIR CAREER, New Order "acted" for only a couple of videos.. the rest was live archive...
And to be honest.. why didn't they use any live footage for the latest songs, it would have killed nobody to include a bit of Hyde Park or Hammerstein Ballroom into the WFTSC video for instance... ![]()

Typical journo, misspelt Sludden. ![]()
The WFTSC video I wrote was okay. I prefer it to this.
* Basically, it's a man walking through a seaside village, all the doors are closed, but they always open when he isn't looking. After many attempts, he gives in, and heads for the pier. (My idea was that it would be done at south queensferry, for all you Scots) He steals a boat, and sails out to an island, where he finds a cardboard guitar. Sitting on a cliffside, playing the ending riff, he slowly fades away into the atmosphere*
Well, it's not bad... ![]()
Not bad, not great; 6.5 out of ten: Need to engage metaphor circuits.
That poor kid must have been knackered by the end of the shoot!![]()

Enjoy everybody.
i thought it was very forrest Gump as well, they should have had him run Until he was like 40 and his clothes got to small, also not opposed to the idea of him running off of a Cliff at the end. terrible video, still the best track on the Album though

I pray to god that they dont make anymore Videos! at least not for this album
Oh comeon guys, this video is much better than 99.9% of whatever is playing today. Let me break it down for you:
It's a video about friendship, materialism, and what's important in this world:
I've got it all Cause you were not the wrong one I don't know where to turn when you're gone When you're gone
That's basically it. The street kids were robbing some goods, but the kid who escaped threw away the one thing that mattered, his friendship with his bud. He sold him out. The rest of the video he's running, trying to come to grips with it all. He got away, he should be happy right? But he's not. He's soulsick, because he's starting to realize what really mattered - his friendship. Without his friend, everything is empty and pointless.
The interesting use of working class poor kids in this video, captures a reality from my own island (Puerto Rico). Kids on the street hang with "friends" getting into trouble, but when the law comes, those that you thought were your friends are not. You get sold out for fear, a couple of dollars, shame, whatever. Kids/people in poverty continue to throw away the only things that make us truly happy. They continue to not "get" what's important.
Goods, material, riches, won't do it, whether you earn them, steal them, or they are bequeathed to you. Your friends and your family in the end are the only ones that matter in this big bad world. The city of New Orleans is finding this out, and I think Waiting for the Siren's Call does an extremely good job of capturing it the way that New Order always does so well.
Bit disappointingly average.
I can sort of see what they were aiming for (theme of travel, going places, seeing things, only in a different context), but that kid pisses me off. I can't say I really like it too much. I wish if they were going to be arty, go all the way (ho HO!) and do something like True Faith, or Fine Time. Either that or do a fairly standard video with a nice twist, like Crystal. Less of this sort of arty but not really arty crap. MORE BRIGHT COLOURS ARE NEEDED. MORE BLUE PEOPLE. etc

i Disagree, it isnt realistic. if the kid that got caught would have told the cops who his friend that got away was, that would be selling out your friend. every street kid knows that if you get caught your on your own and you keep your mouth shut. who goes back and gets arrested? they should have just taken the idea from the cagney movie "angels with dirty faces" cagney got away and it led to a life of crime his friend that got caught(Pat O'Brien) became a priest, and kept his mouth shut and was still a friend to cagney.

The kid whose idea it was to steal the stuff (our protagonist) probably told the other kid it was safe, they wouldn't get caught, and that he'd take care of him. Don't worry, it'll be all right. I've got your back. The other kid was reluctant, but went along with it. Guess what, he got caught, and instead of distracting the cop, trying to help his friend, taking care of him, having planned the operation better, or just turning himself in too, looks at his compatriot and takes off. I'm sure the kid who got caught kept his mouth shut, but if he's like any of the juvenile offenders I've worked with in Puerto Rico over the years, he feels bitter, betrayed, and empty.
This video, I believe (and I could be totally wrong), shows in that split second that the protagonist gets scared and thinks about only himself, how he didn't win, and that he threw it all away. But of course I could be wrong.
Whatever the case, I think it communicates some interesting and confusing realities of our modern age. This one tiny little look into a micro-culture in the UK, yields a particularly large spiritual lesson. I'd say at the very least this video is light years above the belly-button baring garbage played in other venues.
The WFTSC video is ineptitude posing as art. It looks like it took an afternoon to shoot, displays very little talent in design and execution, and means nothing. It looks like a 4 minute episode from some Ken Loach gritty oop-north drama where some snot-nose runs into the hills and carries on for no apparent reason other than to suppose metaphor. Wonderful song, worthless video.
WHAT A DAMN WASTE!!!!
This song deserved one of New Order's best efforts, but instead it ranks among its worst.
O well. Such is life. It's still one of New Order's top 5 songs of all time.

Was Keith Allen filming the band in Ruined in a Day?? help me out
I really like the Ruined in a day video...very natural... can't wait to see it on the Item DVD...
she's so good for a man...a man like me.
I quite like what Jaime has to say.
When i first saw the video for Krafty i thought it was totally boring .But then a few weeks later i found myself loving the bit when they escape to the rooftop towards the end of the song becaue its just such a joyous celebration of love and freedom (If there is any love and freedom in this world). So it took me a while to "get" it (im a little slow at times!) and this is what will probably happen for me with this video.Ill watch it in a few weeks and ill love it.POSSIBLY.
p.s and as Jaime siad it`s better than watching all this rap macho posing videos (usually signals a scramble for the remote control anyway when they come on!)
Vids;
Crystal; cack. 60MPH; great. Krafty; great. J-E-T; cack. WFTSC; cack.
So maybe the next two will be great??
