Just saw that NME.com has the WFTSC video available for viewing. I can't do it at work, but hopefully later tonight. Looking forward to seeing what this one looks like....

Couldn't see it...

After clicking on the link all you get is

Now seriously, I've seen it...

Not much cop, I'm afraid. Starts with two young kids running from an older man, carrying what appears to be stolen material. One of them gets caught, the other runs away minus the stolen goods. He runs through a small town, untils he reaches a hill, where he stops and picks up a stone from the ground and stares at the bugs that were underneath. He then reaches a highway, to where he spits (nice close up, that one!). Night settles in, and our kid meets some low-lifes (nice pun, eh?). Er, and that's it, basicaly.

Oh, the song is edited, of course. The video is 3.58 minutes long.

Is it just me or does the kid at times look like a younger version of our own Shuggles? Typically boring New Order video, but at the least the kid kept running when the teenybopper girl came on to him (or we would've seen a repeat of the Krafty video). The kid came to a cliff at the end and I was kinda hoping he'd jump a conveniently located wardrobe at the end and gone over the cliff (a la copying the Cure).

This looks like a very typical New Order video. Who directed it? Judging by the style of the vid, it could well be Johan Renck again.

Nice vid, but what the f*** has it got to do with the song??

The video is a bit weird, but not bad, not as bad as 1963 vid.

This is the first edit of WFTSC I've heard other than a live one they did on later (I think), it's not too bad as far as edits go, they had to cut it down a bit for a single release, this seems a fair compromise.

Still don't know why they bothered making a video for a release that is only going to appear on 7" single... :confused2:

Most chart sales come from CD's nowadays, and only the bigger HMV/Virgin stores tend to stock vinyl (together with the small independent CWNN stores)...

Probably only made to include on 'Item'?

utter rubish, this is up there with 1963 as a poor effort, and talk about on the cheap, just continuos shots of some daft taffy twat running aimlessly through fields. did the band ok this??,if they did they want a fucking good kick up the arse.

Would have been better if the young kid jumped off the cliff at the end of the vid! :evil4:

I could relate to the bit where the teenage girl gives him a come on. Had that a few times when i was a similar age to the kid in the vid .So that was the only bit of the vid that caught me attention.

Quite like the edit of the track.

Would his mum not be worried about him?:evil4:

Nice video, with the cover of Krafty referenced, and the start seems a pisstake of the video for What Became of the Likely Lads.

Think I'm the only one who enjoyed that video...

WTF? Bring back Saville. A low-key video doesn't have to look like crap.

I did...But the edit is shit, tho it was to be expected, with it being a long track,MTV time slots an all...The radio edit will be similar, it carves it up a little too much for me:nonono:...Thanks for the link tho:thumb:

I thought the band would appear in that video though, that was written in the press article about the shooting...

It's too bad because WFTSC is my favorite track on the album and I was hoping a good video would boost sales/airplay...

That has to be one of the worst videos I've ever seen. It should have been the video for Flock of Seagulls I RAN since that's basically all the kid did. It seemed really ameturish and film school-esque to me. The angles didn't quite match up on the cutting, the film axis was crossed in several places and his running made Cary Grant in NORTH BY NORTHWEST look positively olympian in comparison. Even the shot of the kid drooling off the bridge deserved another take since he couldn't do that properly.

I'm sure there are so many filmmakers who would be interested in working with New Order on a video... Jonathan Demme, Danny Boyle, etc...

I would have loved to have seen a moodier piece with Barney quite literally catching a midnight train, guitar case in hand and sitting and scribbling lyrics and moving through the passengers who are travelling and ending up at his destination alone with no one on the platform to meet him.

Such a beautiful song deserves a really beautiful video... Oh, well... Just my two cents from a disgruntled video watcher.

I thought the Krafty vid was quite nice but this new one is just shite. :-(

Reminds me of the movie "My Private Idaho" by Gus Vant Sant about teenage runaways and it's bleak portrayal- nevertheless- an interesting movie to say the least. And also begs to ask "I don't get it?!"

I like it, I guess it wasn't what I was expecting but NO has always 'walked to their own beat'

Cheers!
