NO remixes

What makes a good NO remix?

IMO double tracking Barney's voice can give a remix more depth (TF Pink Noise Morsel, Confusion Karma Bones)

The trick seems to be stripping down the songs:

Regret Sabres' slow mix and Krafty Glimmers 12" mix are both ace

Erm , richard x definately makes a good No remix !

I prefer them when they get more upbeat, more dancey. Richard X's remix of Jetstream was splendid. Quite partial to the Robert Racic mix of Paradise as well. And erm, Razormaid's take on 586. The PSB didn't do too badly with True Faith either..

They need to stop making such poor remixes. I was just listening to my NO playlist today and on came on the Superman Lovers' Remix of 60 Miles An Hour. What a ridiculous remix! At least the Pink Noise and Morel's remixes of TF are better.

Yeah,I've got this one,but as much as I love the Pets,can't say it's one of my favourites.I think it's the very 80's rock synth peppering through song that spoils it for me.They are brilliant,and can do better.Listen to their remix of Blur's "Girls & Boys". Favourite remixes are SPOOKY (Paul Van Dyk's Out Of Order Mix) and TOUCHED BY THE HAND OF GOD remix off "Rest of.."

I believe this FAQ entry may clear up this mystery. The Pet Shop Boys have not yet (officially) remixed any New Order track, including True Faith I'm afraid:

It's probably the 9 minute Shep Pettibone mix you're thinking of, who has remixed PSB stuff like What Have I Done To Deserve This? Or perhaps it's the Morel 2001 mix, his Pink Noise version of PSB's Se a vida e is really very good.

D'OH! I'm thinking of the wrong song.I do remember downloading True Faith remix supposedly by PSB,but it was the Pettibone Remix.The PSB remix I'm thinking of is their remix of Regret.What am I like?

I'm normally loathe of remixes, but I have to admit that the NO has a few great ones. The best remixes are the ones that radically add or alter a song, yet manage to stay true to the original intentions of the artist. Also, taking Hooky's bass out is usually a massive (and common) minus.

Krafty - Eric Kupper remix is superb.

Jacques Jetstream remix is a good one too if you play it all the way through.

Someone Like you - Gabriel and Dresden.

Crystal Digweed & Bedrock and Creamer and K remixes

Blue Monday - DJ DAN remix

Spooky - Stadium Mix
