There's been a bit of NOOL interest in whether we'll get a CD release of WFTSC down here. Well the news is we probably won't.

Been chatting to our friendly contact at Warner AU and he's due to receive radio promos of the three 7"s next week which he'll bundle out to various radio DJs here (hopefully to me too). If there's there's enough interest shown, Warner AU may do a small single run but at this stage it's unlikely.

Taking all this into account, I'm guessing that Warner and London have been disappointed with sales of the singles from this album. There was a LOT of promo and hype created which I don't think has translated into satisfactory bottom lines. They've taken a smaller scale and almost novelty route with the three 7"s for this single in the hope of creating a sort of old school indie buzz.

As far as other AU releases go:

  • "The Singles" collection will be released here late October with the same tracklist as the UK.

  • There's still some confusion over the format of the "Item" DVD. Latest is that it may only be the one DVD of videos with "NewOrderStory" following separately.

Do radio stations really have the turntables they would need to play these things?

A valid point Pats, and one that I too had considered.

I'd have thought many of the new and more commercial studios wouldn't have them installed.

A thought that apparently has not occurred to our favorite record company.

Well that really stinks. I was really looking forward to the Item package abd the WFTSC releases. At least we will get Singles. Really disppointed about the division of Item - if they dont think people are going to but it as one why would they split it into two? Its even less likely that people will buy both - plus we miss out on a really nice package. Oh, this island of ours. We are so incredible musically neglected.:nonono: :nonono: :nonono:

Fair go, Hibbo.

You guys have been telling me for years: "No one in England gives a rat's ass about cricket. All we care about is football."

Oops, maybe I shouldn't have mentioned that.

Let's hope so, at least it will wipe the smirk off those arrogant faces. Shagger Warne will play a big part if you will excuse the pun.

Glastonbury 2005 update, the copy i was sent to distribute will not copy, some sort of invalid menu structure?. A replacement is on it's way from UK and I will update as soon as I have news.

Bugger. I'd put my cousin on notice for a decent CD with all the b-side mixes on it :(

Nice to see good ol' Nick from Warner AU is being kept honest. Sad if Item/NOStory are split up, but I guess not the end of the world really. Nice work beardy man, have you been to Honkers yet? Fooking massive airport, innit? (That's all I've seen of the place) CTB :bear:

How long you been in Blighty for now, Randy Bear?

Sure is massive. You have to catch a freakin' internal train to get from your gate to the arrival terminal. Otherwise you jump on travellators for 15 minutes. Crazy.

CTB, if you happen to check this thread before tomorrow, I am coming to Melboune and would appreciate a few record / cd store reccomendations for down there. Planning to stock up because brissy stores are crap.

Hopefully the Bear will help you out here but in my trips to Melbourne, the three richest sources of NO rarities have been:

  • Sister Ray in Fitzroy

  • Au Go Go Records in the CBD somewhere

  • Some small store alongside the Victoria Markets, top of Elizabeth St

Although I'm not altogether sure they all still exist.

Thanks, I'll visit them!

Cept I googled Au Go Go - it closed recently, unfortunatley.

Owner said:

"Music is no longer the cultural priority it once was. It is part of a more complex mix," she says. "We now have a generation (or two) who don't expect to pay for music. It is seen as a bona fide extra that comes with their computer - an extension of the wonderful free culture of the internet. If a teenager has all the tools needed to collect music for free and make perfect copies of CDs at will, it's a very big ask to suggest that he or she should go down to the record store and spend some real money to the same end."

Shame - seemed like it would have been a good store to visit.

A shame about Au Go Go. Telling comment from the owner - sums it all up really.

Perhaps us hardcore music collectors really are a dying breed.

Happy to help if I can, Mil - the shop beardo suggested (near Vic Market, on Peel Street) is called Heartland Records, it's small but has some good stuff on occasions. The secondhand shops are sometimes worth a squizz too, check out Collectors Corner on 240 Swanston St in the city or the Prahran Dixons Recycled. Those might keep you busy for a while, hope they help. Oh, and bring an umbrella! CTB :bear:
