Still! That's the price of Love

Is it b*ll*cks! The tickets for the US gigs were twice the price of that, with a 10th of the atmosphere! Trust me, the Order'll be worth every penny!!!

How many bands played at the gigs in the States though? It wasn't 25 quid JUST for NO. 25 quid IS a lot of dosh when you are used to paying a couple or so quid on the door.

You harking back to the 80's here, Andy? ;)Liverpool was 22 notes, wasn't it? And I can't remember how much the Apollo was, but they're the only 2 New Order *only* gigs we've had in the past 10+ years, aren't they?

Seem to remember G-Mex 88 was only nine notes though, and I think the Hammersmith Palais was something like four-fifty!

Glad they're not simply doing a Reading appearance again this year cos the only reason I attend such things IS cos of the Order. But still have to pay way over the price.

I won't even begin to tell you how much me and the Mrs spent doing North America and Germany! And we definitely weren't there to see Robbie or Moby ;)

18 sheets in 1988 for me to see the Order at the G-Mex. 7 bar increase in 13 years... you can't gumble at that. Andy S, are you the bitterest man on earth?

it cost me a tenner to take my bird to watch planet of the imbeciles last week, and we got a couple of bevvys and some sugar with popcorn on it - came up to about 25 sheets, and the Order weren't even there.

i'll get you a ticket if your that strapped.

You sure it was 18 notes, Huntsman? That's for 2 tickets surely? They were 9, I'm sure, cos we had our cheques returned when the gig was over-subscribed then bought tout tickets in advance for 15 notes.

18 squid, actually, no, it was 19 bar. we were on a coach from sunny middlesbrough so that might have included the bus trip - didn't think of that, sos boss. take a tenner for a shit bus ride and your looking at another 10 for the no ticket.

......25 quid to see them now, what a fucking ripoff.

Yes, back then you could see them four times + petrol money for 25 quid. That's why I'm not going to Glasgow - what a road trip that was!! The thing with GMEX was that you got to see ACR and the Mondays too. I think Finsbury was even cheaper AND didn't Railway Children play as well as ACR and Mondays?

Not the bitterest but surely the brokest!

A ticket would be great - would that include a few bevvies beforehand too?! :-)

erm, how much was the ticket again?

By the way, GMEX was £8.50 plus booking fee.

Fucking hell...

I remember when this was all orchards you know....

25 nicker isnt too bad, look at the flaming prices those Bastards U2 and Madonna have charged of late...

I reckon we've got it cheap to see the best band in the world....

Funny, here in Canada, when we receive a tour, they base their prices on the US market.. and since a few year, the Canadian $ is a lot lower than it used to be (it was more than the US$ 30 years ago!)

So I saw U2 for 50$ CND and all t-shirts at show these days are 50$ too...

Which is usually /2 of the uk pound.

So the same price as the New Order show.

So no, I don't find that too much, it's the price were paying these days over here!

btw, take a look at ebay for the price of Oasis tickets! Unbelieveable.

There was a London pair with a 'Buy It' value of 1500 notes on Monday. And they've gone now!

Would be looking at £40/£50 to see them if they played a festival..and you'd have to put with the usual bland guitar angst shite while waiting for them to play. Any news on after show parties planned for the 11th at Brixton by any chance?

I'd heard that THREE dates were booked provisionally for Brixton, so am wondering if they're perhaps gonna add the 12th as an extra date, if these ticket sales go well (remember the Mondays did this a couple of years back? Had two sell-out Brixton concerts, then added an all-nighter at the end of them).

Yeah but that's U2 and Madonna - not exactly the Pistols are they? Maybe it's me but to see one of the last true remaining punk bands (cos that's what they are - they were NEVER a rock band) charging 25 quid...

Fucking hell I've never heard anything like it. Andy, pal, mate, in a years time when the fuckers have had enough you'll look back and think, mmmmm, 25 sheets to see the boys - maybe I should have bought that ticket after all, instead of blowing it on a sixpack and a bag of weed.

Putting things into perspective (again - like an old bastard) 25 quid doesn't even buy you a decent seat at most footy grounds these days. £25 buys you a crap jumper, a quarter of a tank of fuel, 25 expensive bags of crisps, 12 pringles tubes, or... fuck it the heats getting to me.

Andy

Ive thought of an easy solution to you complaining about the prices of the tickets....

Save your money and dont fucking go...

Personally, im happy to pay 25, i actually expected it to be more.... Most gigs i see cost about 25-30 squid, so this is average for todays prices..

To be totally honest, It doesnt matter how much they were going to charge, i'd be there. To be totally fucking honest, i'd sell a kidney to buy tickets....

Well said. I'm likely to blow double that on having a few drinks etc before and after the show...After giving up all hope of ever seeing them live £25 is a small price to pay.

Never heard anything like it? Geez, the whole point of punk was to kick the music biz up the arse and flick 'em the v's at every opportunity. Maybe £25 isn't a lot of money to you but when you're married with a family on the way you might, just might, understand.

As for blowing cash on beer and drugs, I don't think so.

Look, if you can remember going to see groups like the Cocteaus, Gang of Four, PiL, Cabs, Section XXV, Joke, ACR, NO etc. for a couple of quid you might feel the same.

Liv,

It's not a question of SAVING the money, it's the fact of not having that sort of cash to spare in the first place.

If I don't go, I don't go. I'll live.

Hey...I paid 50 bucks a seat when they came to Dallas in 93...but it was just because I wanted to be as close as possible...got third row...and my seat for Area:One was 58, but like you mentioned, it did include Moby, then throw in airfare and hotel, well...maybe I shouldn't think about. But it was worth it...in my demented little mind...

Andy, I hear ya about the money situation, im the same, totally...... i am actually going to have to sell that kidney.....

As soon as i heard that they were planning a tour (weeks back) I signed up for a egg card... and now will be able to use it to pay for my tix.....

I keep the thought of, if i end up in prison crippled with debts, at least i spent the money having fun and doing what i wanted to....

Could you sell both kidneys and buy me a ticket? :-)

Huntsman was going to buy me one but he got his coat pretty damn quick...friggin pringle muncher...rather go and see Planet of the Apes than buy his old mucker a ticket...tight snatch :-)

And after I offered him a copy of Get Ready too...

Seriously, if I can afford one, I'll go to the Friday Apollo show - maybe see you all before for a bevvy or two.

Andy, I might be able to get a spare ticket for the Thursday show.... email me....

I'll be there for the bevvies without doubt!

Liv

Andy, your offer of Get Ready was a powerful one, it was so generous I slipped on my chair and cut my top lip with a pizza flavoured pringle. I don't munch, I just scoff. 3 in, 2 down, 1 to swill then a few grinds - necter.

As its too close to Monday I had to pass, I'd also made a pact with the man Marco and I always keep my word, well, usually anyway, except when its a tricky one.

I'm definately off to that Friday show, I was going to go on Thursday but Friday'll be a better laugh, besides, I can sleep in the next day until about the following Monday. I'd buy you a drink anyday, but you always knew it didn't 'yer.

Don't deny yourself the influence of crisps though, Paul Heaton's addicted to them - but then again he's a fat cunt.

To see New Order in the beginning of the month I paid $58 and another $27 for the little white shirt that says "New Order Get Ready". I don't know how much that translates into UK currency but it looks like you guys are getting a deal!

Yeah, £25 sounds pretty good to me. What are you guys complaining about? North American prices are more.

I am just weighing if I can afford the plane ticket to cross the pond to see them. The ticket itself is well worth seeing the greatest band ever!

Having seen them on both sides of the pond, the UK shows do tend to be more intense! The crowd is much more into it in the UK. Bunch 'o hooligans! ;)

I kid you not - the Heat-meister is addicted to crisps. I watched a program about him one time and he lives in the street where he was born in Hull (I'm talking scruffy in the extreme - that's how he likes it) and the documentary had him admitting to knowing loads of different crisp flavours and how it was difficult for him to stop eating them!!!

He should write a song called 'Down the old pickled onion road' or 'Smoky Bacon makes me Stink'
