I mean, really, least they could do if they're proposing to realease a compilation with all the original radio versions, is actually give us a compilation that features all the original radio versions!

If it really isn't Run 2 on this collection, I'll put my high-quality Technics 1210 digital vinyl grabs of the 12" online and openly share the links with you all. London/Warner can take me to court if they want - but where else are we supposed to get the bloody things on CD! Same goes for 'True Faith' 7" (which I have a CD version of in the first place) and the two alternate seven inch mixes of 'Perfect Kiss'. If they won't remaster and re-release them, what else do they expect us to do???

Because we don't have them all on CD... Ceremony 7" alone is worth the price of it.

But I admit that people having all singles already shouldn't bother that much.

But a 2 CD compilation for one 7" and yeah they did use a lot of album versions and some edits from soundtracks no??

I'll buy it...burn it and return it...Then use the money for the next album

Uh, someone on the Factory mailing list wrote it wouldn't be on Item, I thought it was cancelled at the last minute for whatever reason, they don't usually do wrong announcements on Faclist, that's why I didn't check that here again, I thought you discussed it while I was away... Though the video... weeelll... interesting, but... do we really wanna see the minor brother of the guy of the couple of the Krafty video on a runaway from home? We just had to guess if Warners can barely be arsed to release the title track, they won't release a fourth single... so no Turn, alright, but what really matters is no Working Overtime! Good, let the title track finish the compilation and be the last single from the album, it's OK. Let's look forward.

Why? What's so bad about Turn?

No no... I love Turn, I've always said it should have been released as a single, especially in America, it would have been a hit. But I usually think fourth singles are a bit unnecessary. While two are not enough, four could be too much. You can't please everyone... Guilt would have also been a great single, for the dancefloors. If they still released any of them as a single I'd be happy. But if they don't, it's alright, they've made their three singles, though the release of the third is a bit poor, being only a 2 track CD (oh yeah, and the 7" for avid collectors). If they released the promo Tony says it was made that would have been good. Even better if it featured exciting remixes from the likes of Colder or Planet Funk. The huge relief is because at this point the danger was to see Working Overtime being the fourth single, and the last song of the compilation. My problem is with that song. I don't really hate it, I can like it as I liked Rock The Shack. But I think both are just worth of being B sides. At least Rock The Shack is only an album filler. But Working Overtime is the last song of the album, a place too important for a song like that, and worse it seemed it would have been the last song of a 25 years double anthology, and a single even! I'm glad this nightmare won't happen.

Regarding Working Overtime, I concur with you, Mick. Releasing the song as a single and thus including it in the complation would be a disaster

If it came down to it Turn is a much better song over Working "my fukkin last nerve" Overtime.

So the Temptation version is the 1982, somewhat darker version I have never heard and really want to hear? Or did I get the wrong end of the stick with that one?

so eil and hmv don't mention 'Working Overtime', it's on the actual promo CD-Rs though and therefore is probably on the final release whether you like it or not.

Sabotage/Run this river dry and Player in the league were in the Get ready promo and didn't make it to the final cut, did they?

What a mess indeed. This may be another thread starting here, but Factory, for all their faults, used to have a reasonably clear vision as to what direction they wanted New Order to head in. Well, actually, they probably botched many projects, but my point is, is that apart from the financial side of it, London are just as useless (if not more so) in handling the New Order brand, and as a major label, this is unforgiveable.

Look at the Pet Shop Boys - every album remastered, with a disc for remixes and rarities, and a comprehensive booklet. Also a double album of B-sides and rarities. The Cure - remasters, box sets etc. Is it so hard??

Retro, International, Singles, WFTSC, Item - all missed opportunities and strange decisions! If there is one band in the world suited to satisfying their fans with rarities and oddities, it's New Order, but they always drop a bollock. Oh, the irony. If NOOL members hadn't protested so much, then Retro's bonus disc wouldn't have materialised.

Hello again, Just got a dbl.Promo. CD-R. of 'Singles' off Vinyl Exchange last Monday (26 Sep.2005) and it's got 'Turn' as last track on CD2. As discussed previously by cognoscenti on this site, I can confirm that it's genuinely all original 7" versions, EXCEPT for 'Perfect Kiss' which is the album version and same goes for 'Run' and not 'Run2', and the 12" full length for both 'Blue Monday' (original) and 'True Faith', so, all in all not too bad inni't. Kudos to everyone, Didier
