Why does NewOrder keep releasing best-ofs every now and then? Really, who needs another compilation after international, best of, rest of, substance and the retro fiasco? what do you all think about it?

F*ck Warner or London or whatever for ALWAYS making us think RUN2 is gonna be re-released.
F*ck Warner or London or whatever for releasing NewOrder compilations every 2 years. And the main problem is us, NO fans, because we are such suckers to buy every single thing they push us through the throat. At this point I'm ordering a Numark TTX because the bastards are releasing THREE 7' only singles, and I want them in a decent digital quality.
F*ck Warner or London or whatever for making us believe that someday they will give us the pleasure of having Ode to Joy and Vicious Circle on CD, not to mention Blue Monday 7' or Perfect Pit.
F*ck Warner or London or whatever for remixing every NewOrder classic every 18 months - and there's gonna be BLT 2006, believe you me.
F*ck Warner or London or whatever for lying all the time about losing tapes or masters since 11 minute elegia was once lost and them somebody found it.. bullsh*t, NewOrder was always a chicken layering golden eggs all over and since day 1 they knew the importance of keeping the masters and sh*t.
F*ck Warner or London or whatever for releasing some mixes on mp3 only. YOU ARE KILLING MUSIC THIS WAY - let the old skool guys have their physical discs.
I'm really pissed about it as you may have noticed, and I'm sorry.
all the best to all of you, Pete

Thanks for the compliments :). I may be new to most of you, but Im (was?) in ceremony since ever and I was one of the first to log into NOOL - 5 years ago I don't know. I don't have patience to keep checking a website - this is why I prefer ceremony, or even republic 7.
I think NUO's new cd should be called Barney needs another boat, as big as the m1
all the best to all of you Pete
Pete, Republic 7 does NOT exist, remember?!
It's only a legend briefly told by a drunk fan at an aftershow party. ;)
And anyway, even if it existed, the last post would have happened the 17th of February in 2003, that's like 31 months ago!
Anyway I like how they're always trying to find a new excuse to release yet another compilation after every album...
Actually I'm glad they release this as the others were just "Best Of"s with arguable choices (but good for novices), this is the first complete (well, kinda) collection since Substance, 18 years later... let them get away with it.
But I'll NEVER forgive them if they close it with Shitting Overtime! ;)
question...
don't bands sometimes release best of's and singles to get out of record deals? like the cure released greatest hits because they had one album left to release on elektra and they wanted to move on or so robert says and je really just wanted the money for make-up and hair spray.

That's what we tought for the 1995 best of.. but they did continue with London Records...
I think this time is to keep the interest for the next album.
But again, I'd like to remind to some people that this is the first compilation in the UK since 1994, so 11 years... International was NEVER released in the UK.
As for "Retro", it's not really a compilation, is it? It's something... special.
So far, we're not even sure "Singles" will cross the Atlantic...
Working overtime never bothered me because i dont take it serious and I thought neither does NO. Well, that's what i thought and now im not too sure right now if it is release as a single.![]()
you are all right it does involve an amount of money spinning but another reason for this is to get at a different audience. people like to buy the best of...whoever? and not albums or singles its a marketing ploy which works again and again.
bondy 05
now that weve grown up together their all doing drugs with me.
You want another reason why London Records perpetutally sucks and blows runny shit big time?
They reissued Low Life on CD with a default Courier font instead of the proper typeface as used on the original. And they haven't even done fuck all about rectifying this gargantuan cock up. Sloppy fucking useless cunts or what??

Alright alright. Substance was needed at the time, and most of the singles weren't released on an album. And it has True Faith on.
Best of was your first collection, and it helped fill the empty void o' the 90's.
International, thank god, wasn't released in the UK. As the name implies!
I'll let them off for Retro just because I got that 5th disc and it's got some lovely bits and pieces on (17 minute elegia! fap fap)
Fuck off with the 'singles' though. There haven't been that many singles since Substance. If they wanted to release a quality package, they'd release a Substance style deal for post-Substance stuff. That is, all the A-sides on one CD, and some quality B-sides on the other.
GAAAAH. ![]()
What a bunch of whiners. You're getting more NEW order stuff this year than you have in years and you all are bitching about it?
Jeezus. Then don't frig'n buy it! What the hell is so hard NOT buying a CD?

The pointless cash-in live albums between each new record can't be far off then! ;)
