Okay, so I just pre-ordered a stack of stuff from HMV...

  • WFTSC 3 x 7"
  • WFTSC CD Single
  • WFTSC DVD
  • "Singles" (with exclusive HMV poster for pre-orders only)
  • Item 2dvd box set Hmv Exclusive (20 pounds!)

It remains to be seen if the WFTSC CD single & DVD turn up!

Wonder if you'll actually end up with that stash.

What a confusing mess!

The DVD single of WFTSC may be so exclusive that it doesn't exist!

Yep, it's a mess alright. :banghead: It's all on pre-order and won't get shipped until 3 October so will cancel if the track listings don't turn up before then.

HMV (which means His Master's Voice) is freaking expensive! :(

WFTSC will not be released as a single in Ausralia unless there is some totally unexpected swell of radio support. You may as well pick them up from HMV UK, they're pretty cheap.

As late as last week, Warner AU were undecided as to the format of the DVDs here. But it now seems likely they'll release them both individually in October. You'll probably see them on release schedules soon.

Don't know why the website would be showing BtM as the last NO release. There's been a whole bag of stuff since then.

What do you base that on? Have you heard from official channels or is it speculation?

The Warners Australian site is a shambles

Straight from Warner AU.

There will be no double-DVD set here, but definitely The Collection on a single disc release. NewOrderStory is expected to come later but it's no certainty.

All of this is handled by Warner Vision here. They operate independently of Warner Music AU which muddies the waters even further.

Thanks for explaining that. Considering that we here got the full NOStory at the time on VHS, as distinct from the US version, is there going to be anything on the DVD that's different?

AFAIK, it's looking like being a straight transfer of the AU/UK NewOrderStory video, Brad.

I mentioned elsewhere that this is rather disappointing on Warner's behalf. Combining NOS as a bonus extra in the "Item" box set seemed like a nice sweetner for fans, considering the feature is now so many years out of date in recounting the band's history.

But expecting us to buy Collection DVD and then the standalone NOS DVD is stretching our loyalty again. Fair enough if they've amended NOS with new material but you can almost bet they haven't.

The 2-disc US "Item" version is looking like the smart bet...

Is that artwork shown for the Singles collection on the HMV website for real? I'm all for Saville reworking some of his past sleeves (let's face it, he might as well seeing as his recent work hasn't been up to scratch), and it worked when the Unkniwn Pleasures image was revamped for his exhibition (even though it was done by someone else!), I just think this one's a bit bland. Plus we get yet another white NO sleeve. Gotta be some sort of in-joke there.

You should check that Fraser Island record shop.

Is there any warner email address to which I can send salutations of immense displeasure about the DVDs? We are destined to be ignoired unless we kick up a fuss, Aussies.

Also, how do you create radio support? Do I ring and request it all the time or something?

Mil, Chargie and myself have been in touch with our contact at Warner AU about a couple of different things over the months, but it's probably no surprise that we can't publish his contact details here. It's probably not too fair to level blame about the DVD on him anyway; he seems like a good fella really. In terms of whipping up a radio frenzy, I guess you could call a station and request it if you were so inclined, but if the single isn't released, you can't expect them to play it, can you? Bit of a conundrum, that - radios won't play the song coz there's no percieved demand, but the reason there is no demand is coz no-one knows the song (on account of there being no single)....

Anyway, I'll be trying to buy ITEM from the UK, it appears to be cheaper from the Rhino website, but they won't ship outside the USA, which is irritating. CTB :bear:

Mil, we aren't being ignored over the DVDs, we'll probably end up getting the same deal as the UK. I fear emails may be a lost cause, they'd be well into production runs by now. It's Warner Vision you need to contact by the way.

As for radio support, many stations should be receiving their 7" copies of WFTSC this week. How many of them will bother playing a 7" I wonder? Especially after the first two singles have been virtually ignored by Australian radio.

By all means if you can find a radio station that spins it, get on them to play it more.

jinx, eh? - DepthCharge - there you go, you can talk freely now. Incidentally, I'm 'barleys' when comes to all other schoolyard games. Back O/T - it's safe to assume Triple J won't be thrashing the life out of WFTSC as a single, due to it not being to Kingsmill's liking....but really, who listens to the radio? That's what I want to know.. CTB :bear:
