Bernard Sumner's got a weird affection for knees. Why's that?

DRACULA'S CASTLE: There was a time i'd run around for you Get down on my knees I swear it's true

TURN: It's a hard way to come home You've got me on my knees

BIZARRE LOVE TRIANGLE: Every time I see you falling I get down on my knees and pray

EVERYONE EVERYWHERE: How much is free for me and you? I'm on my knees, I am a fool.

ALL THAT I NEED (by Electronic): I'm so busy praying I was down on my knees

Let's not forget the passage in DENIAL:

This feeling inside me can't confront the decayTo fall down on my knees and resume this charadeBelieve me, this distance, it's not what I needInside of me

This reminds me of how better-sounding Barney's obtuse early 80s lyrics were, compared to his 'think of a word, any word, to rhyme with the last line' lyrics of nowadays.

I love his simpler, poppier lyrics as well, but I absolutely love the abstract quality of his early ones. There's some great stuff on MOVEMENT.

nevermind Barney's love of knees, what about my love of his knees? Not that I want to encourage him to start wearing shorts again now, but it was a great look back for him in the '80s
