English Football Association Press Release:

" Following the success of Italia 90's englandneworder single "World In Motion", New Order shall once more be providing the soundtrack for England's World Cup campaign in Germany 2006 with the help of none other than Robbie Williams. New Order shall be reprising their song 'Brutal' with a more rock oriented sound and Robbie Williams providing the vocals. Release date for the single is expected to be 1 week prior to the commencement of the Germany 2006 tournament.

Further details to be announced shortly."

looks like tha FA are confidant - or perhaps it was going to be released anyway, btu agreement was reached that it would be the official England single providing qualification attained. i don't know - have to ask the FA (or London or EMI!)

Cold sweat etc. and all that, would be a shame if NO threw away their credibility on something like a duet with the ex-Take That fat dancer :crazy: especially for a football single.
