3 Single releases from WFTSC - you decide

Now that the cd has been out long enough for us all to have hindsight, which 3 songs would you have released from the album and why?

In order,

1st i would have released 'Hey now what you doing' - a decent 'we're back' track that would have got a lot of airplay

2nd would be 'TURN' for it's 'now you know we are back - here's the best song you'll hear this year' effect.

3rd has to be GIAUE - for the 'we are STILL Kings of the dancefloor' attitude.

For me that would have been the best way to promote the album

the point of "singles" are to get radio attention and airplay, and dance floor spins all across the world

"Krafty" has a great classic New Order sound and is upbeat, and could be remixed easily... "Jet Stream" is the poppy-ist song, and could be remixed easily... these are no surprise to me. "Guilt" is another obvious remix candidate, maybe the best... maybe New Order is a little embarressed of the song. other singles could be marketed toward an alternative/college crowd like "Turn", if they choose to try that angle. I would do a "Turn/ Guilt" double single and hit both marketing angles at the same time, cause I think that "Waiting" will disappear quickly without much of a ripple as a single, even thou it is a quality track

WFTSC is such a delicate song, it's too 'soft' or too nice for airplay, at least here in the US... I don't know I feel I just said a stupid thing. :(

Hey but at least, having JETstream released as a single we've got a bunch of fantastic remixes. Otherwise we'd always hate the song :)

True, J-E-T is my favourite "single" off the album due to the remixes. WFTSC is such a perfect song, no need to be remixed anyway.

But I do understand the case for Krafty's release, although I (and many others) find Turn to be the better overall song.

1. krafty--a great starter. they made the right choice.
2. WFTSC--keeping the momentum going, yet another top choice.
3. turn (with GIAUE as a b-side)--turn would probably have more mass appeal, but as a b-side GIAUE might get some airplay and much deserved attention.

In the US..

1. Morning, Night, and Day
2. I Told You So
3. Turn

I would have done 'Krafty' first with some really BIG TIME remixers. You can't top the Bedrock remix of 'Crystal'.

Second, would have been 'I Told You So' but for CHRISSAKES, turn up the bass! You can tell New Order don't listen to much urban music.

Third, woulda been 'Guilt Is A Useless Emotion' which in my opinion, is the best track on the album.

I wish New Order would pick BIGGER TIME remixers (and maybe a trance producer) to do some remixes. Depeche Mode's new single out 10/04 has Sasha doing remix duties. Now why couldn't New Order pull that off?

what a "big" remixer is rather subjective... but New Order at least has tried to be creative with remixers, I don't know that throwing money at the highest priced people results in much else except bland generic remixes. "Trance" is considered the nadir of the electronic music scene by many, and New Order is held to higher standards

Krafty / J-E-T.

Hey Now / Morning, Night & Day.

Turn / Guilt.

But instead:

Lots of people seem to like the Turn/Guilt double-single idea (myself included) Is that because they represent the two 'styles' of NO? Or just because they are equally great

Do all of you have ANY hope there'll be a fourth single?

1. Krafty - Definite correct choice as the first single
2. Turn - Best song on the album
3. Morning Night And Day or Dracula's Castle - Two upbeat songs

two comments:

-the lack of jetstream in all these choices is pretty funny....wonder how the band feels about it at this point...

-the sasha remixes of DM's precious are not as good as the others in the lot....very muddy, and not particularly inventive...I just think sasha just aint ALL THAT....the remixers featured on this years NO releases have been a nice cross section....no complaints from me, except that Glimmer stuff....

how about 3 different versions of"i told you so".
