LWTUA in top 10 songs since 1980

Here is basically what it says...

Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' has topped a new list of 'greatest songs' released since 1980.

The 1982 pop hit beat Outkast's 'B.O.B' and Guns N' Roses 'Sweet Child O'Mine' in the new Blender magazine list.

Despite not appearing in the top 20, Prince has more entries in the 500 Greatest Songs poll than any other artist, with seven. Madonna follows closely behind with six.

The Top 10 are:

Thriller - Michael Jackson
B.O.B - Outkast
Sweet Child O'Mine - Guns N' Roses
One - U2
Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
Like A Prayer - Madonna
Love Will Tear Us Apart - Joy Division
Sucker MCs - Run-DMC
Baby One More Time - Britney Spears
In Da Club - 50 Cent

ya i heard that before a long time ago somehwere that love will tear us apart was one of the greatest songs since the 80s, it makes me feel good at least one song from our group was made such an impact, but including Blue Monday and World in Motion and stuff. but it still amazes me how ppl still have never heard of New Order her in the US, even tho most of the music is influenced by NO. what fools they are. i am happy to be a New Orderian

It's true - it's strange how few Americans even know who New Order is. It's sad, really. :cry:

It's true - it's strange how few Americans even know who New Order is. It's sad, really.

Do ya reckon it might be more a case of them recognising the songs when they hear them, but not knowing the name of the band? Kinda like "shit, I didn't know New Order played that". :idea:

Yes, to a certain extent! Many people will recognize BM, BLT or True Faith when they hear it, but other than those three songs, most people don't know anything else by them. Many people just call them "an 80s band", if they even know they are a band.

You also must remember that I am basing this primarily on people of my generation (I am 20 years old). I am sure that 30-something Americans generally know a bit more about the band.
