Has anyone taken upon themselves the incredibly difficult task of transcribing the lyrics of Temptation on the 316 DVD (the Tevas S. concert)? I'm just curious, as I hear bits and pieces of the final lyrics but I can't quite understand what Barney's saying (big surprise).

It would be fantastic if that was the first Barney decided to hit that specific high note and decided to run with it.

No you're far off. It's "Up down turn around, hit the floor hurt the ground, tonight we're gonna be alright, tonight we're gonna get home tonight" then it goes on and he introduces the ooo's but it's not high pitched ooo's it's just his normal voice. We can all see how the ooo's were born and introduced into the final song there.
what about the part before oh its the first time, is he saying " three ways four ways any way youll hit the floor, three ways four ways hit the door, three ways four ways anyway youll hit the floor so Ill stand, so ill stand"
I like the last bit when he says "its going round the bend". This almost an australianism for "its going down the toilet" ie its turning to shit. How does he know, as at that stage the drum amplification still works.
that performance has to be one of the coolest i have ever seen of them. They were completely different live then than they are now.
Been trying to beat that into a few heads around here. that's the joy of having living breathing machines on stage, whether they are pre-programmed or not....u get to interact, play around and create with them. Much better than stuffy old tape.
Yeah, I love the part when Barney comes up with the 'oooo's in a falsetto, and you see the birth of one of the great parts of the song. Plus the bit towards the end where Bernard Hooky and Steve all kick in together and jam out the main riff of the song..... The fact that it's such a primitive version makes it all the more special.
it sounds like he made up most of those lyrics on the spot, he probably had some idea's and Just winged it from there

I agree, the sound of the music does sound better than most of the recorded versions, there's just something great sounding about that whole gig as it happens, great solid sound indeed.

from memory this was about the 3rd time that temptation was performed live. in the olden days ie before True Faith, they would roadtest and develop the songs in a live setting, and Barney would make up some lyrics on the spot. Later they'd go through the live recordings and use the bits they thought were good. At Taras Temptation is still in its infancy.
I think it was like the 7th time it aired, the first two, however, being instrumentals. The previous gig, I think< Temptation had some video game sound effects. Lyrics were similar. As for the Taras gig they must have been extremely nervous with the video cameras. No talking to the audience or with each other. Except for the mike shocking Barney and his awful vocals on Ceremony it iwas a perfect gig. Gotta love the Movement tunes!.
I want to see a video of Glastonbury 1981. Barney must have been tripping his balls off.
