What other venues have they have played which, made famous by a TV classic or host to a world famous gig?
Montreal Forum in 86 (or 87)
Not only the home of the best team the history of ice hockey, but it's also the place they filmed the movie Snake Eyes with Nicolas Cage.
I can probably think of others.

I think playing wembley arena in 87' was quite an achievement, considering the amount of utter crap that plays there normally 
the fox theatre in detroit. famous primarily for two things: being the first theatre in the world to be wired for 'talking pictures,' and as the home of berry gordy's 'motown revue.'
A lot of venues they've played in London are surely 'famous' cos people would've been well aware of them if New Order had played them, or not.
Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Hyde Park, Alexandra Palace. Wouldn't most foreign nationals be aware of these anyways?

The NEC could be construed as being famous. The Moscow International Stadium probably is. The Hope and Anchor undoubtedly is.

Maxwell's in Hoboken NJ - fantastically famous venue, so hip it's the only non NYC venue to make the listings every week in the New Yorker mag. In fact, it's the only thing still hip in Hoboken, now that all the Masters of the Universe have discovered it (o.k. M&P stil makes a fantastic sandwich). Maxwells was where New Order's first ever North America show was. It also played host to REM's first non-Georgia concert, the Wedding Present about a zillion times, Death cab, Stars, Spoon, Cat Power, on and on and on. It holds maybe 100 people in a back room from the bar. Johnny Marr played there first on his NA healers tour and it was like he set up in my living room. An hour before the show, he was having dinner with the band out by the bar. Bob Mould lived in an apartment above it and wrote Workbook there to. The B-%2s filmed their Love Shack video there. Fantastic place to see a show. If only NJ would outlaw smoking in bars like every other civilized blue state, it would be perfect....
Im not really sure if this is what your looking for but the barrowlands in Glasgow where I have seen New Order play on a number of occasions. Was host to a serial killer known as "Bible John" in the 1960's.

I have to say Ive never heard New Order Play Murder at the Barrowlands and im sure its out of respect for the events that took place there.
Yes Shades! Thats exactly what I was on about, not a famous venue as such but a venue which is either famous or (even better) infamous for events which have happened there.
NO have played in Circus here in Stockholm.
It's a very old building, built as a theatre. Kristina from Duvemåla was shown there for years (Björn and Benny's, from ABBA, work)
Great venue for gigs. I also saw Iggy Pop and Nina Hagen there.
