Watching Item, i realized that New Order has some strange videos.
IMHO, Ruined in a day tops them all.
It looks like the a bad movie from 80's, with a raiders of the lost ark flavor.Its also reminds me of a type of video that Duran Duran would of have. The violin part is odd, and having buddhist monks in a video is weird too.However, i do enjoy the video.
A close second is "60mph". I dont like the song but i do appreciate the video.
They've had some prety lame videos in their time, but I like the RIAD video - thought that & World were good at the time.
My fave is Run
For some reason I can empathise with the old fella, reminds me of boozing on my tod in Oz, having a mad converstation with myself in my head and busrting out laughing.

I like Run a lot. Amazingly poignant and simple. Also i like the interwined clips of the band. Barney gets to show off some dance moves.

That little girl throws some good moves at the end
I liked the way Steve and Gill were meant to be portraying "Aussie tourists" in that clip. You can almost see the looks on all their faces saying 'what the f*ck are we doing here'.

Gillian looks so embarassed in the W.I.M video. No matter what you think of the song, you have to say its funny.
Just watched RIAD again and your right, but it sums up Barney & Hookys attitude to life. They just take the piss.
Tibetan Monks playing charades?
They wouldnt know culture if it fizzed up their nostrils, which is the appeal. They care, but they couldnt care less.

She looks embarassed by her hair... no wonder it was gone in 1993 
RIAD is actually one of my favorite NO videos.
It always seemed to me like an excerpt from some bizarre promotional musical film in which New Order flee to Tibet after the fall of Factory and the Hacienda and Barney becomes a Buddhist yogi, preaching Zen koans about how long love will last if you buy it to young monks.
In Riad,i really get a kick out of Barney getting his groove on in the corner. Where is steven in all of this?

thai theravada buddhist monks do play cards on long train journeys. i bet they play charades occasionally, as well. perhaps tibetan buddhist monks do the same.
In my personal opinion, the wierdest New Order video's got to be the 1995 single version of "1963". I love the song, especially the original version on the Substance album, but not the video.
The other two you can fly clip looks as though it takes its lead with the subtitle idea from RIAD. Just watched WIM from the downloads section and I was really embarressed watching it - even though I was on my own. How desperately awkward - Bernard looks stupid and Gillian looks as though shed rather be hit by a truck just to make it end.
