I loathe LA, but I still wish I could be there.

I have no idea, but it's a worldwide event... there are in London as well this weekend.

Glasgow, Dublin, Bristol, Belfast, Notthingham, Sheffield as well.

RES is a great magazine about film, art, music. And RESFEST is the film festival they have.

I wish they were screening this in New York.

So its just a screening of the forthcoming dvd? Nice that someone has deemed it worthy, but hardly essential.

Forgive me for being naive, but seeing New Order on a giant screen would be something I wouldn't miss ;)

We've been complaining for ages that their videos are useless, but we have proofs that they are indeed "works of art" ;)

Come on, Nic! Just because someone puts something up on the big screen doesn't mean it's art. Chances are good it'll be shit, like a lot of NO's videos are. No surprise then why it's only happening in L.A.

well i went to the screening... i live 25 min from hollywood and im always down there anyway... the egyptian theatre where it was held was very nice... and the screening was awesome... a small little nice intimate room, and some videos from the lads. it was basically screened at resfest to show that the directors were experimenting in videos as an artform rather then a promotional term before anyone else and so forth.. it was worth the 10 bucks <3

I was at the screening yesterday, and it was fantastic. I'd seen many of the videos before on the Substance VHS, but I honestly thought they were almost all crap. Seeing them in such a setting and on a big screen really changed my mind. They did leave out many, though:

Regret 60mph Crystal (proper version) Waiting for the Sirens' Call Touched By The Hand Of God Here To Stay World In Motion Ruined In A Day Spooky Jetstream

Something I didn't expect was to hear the music itself in a totally new way. Think about it, how often do you listen to New Order in a cinema? No dialogue, no sound effects, just New Order. I found new appreciation for tracks I'd all but forgotten, and all-time favorites became even more special. Perfect Kiss was the only one to receive an actual applause, but the new videos for Temptation and Ceremony are PHENOMENAL and quite possibly the best New Order videos yet made. The DVD is worth it for these videos alone.
