I also checked out the instore in Sydney yesterday :)

Memo for anyone attending in Melbourne: I arrived 3 hours early and was second in line. Probably a little too extreme sports.

Contrary to some other reports I found them all to be admirably patient and happy to chat.. They were all interested in the tracklisting of the Aussie 60mph EP and my Crystal 12". Bernard was obliging, Hooky laidback and Steve appeared characteristically anxious.

Anyway.. I asked Hooky what the next single would be off Get Ready. Interested to hear Adam was told Here to Stay was finished because Hooky told me they wanted to release...

Run Wild.

Oooh Run Wild....hmmm

As a founder member of its appreciation society, personally would love to see this released, but am unsure of its appeal? Hmm, odd one that....

My fave off the new album and lyrics that i needed at the time of GR's release - if it is the next single i predict it will be played at many funerals in the future - not exactly a happy chat i know but hey it's true

Jesus....3 hours before the official time.!!!!

Yes, the crowd was bigger than I've expected....I arrived 20 mins before and had to cue for at least an hour, I think... Hey, are you the dude in something brown, looked unshaven, with a DJ-type ( LP ) bag....holding a couple of signed 60 m.a.h. CDE singles and a Crystal 12"...?

By the way, if you're second in line...then who was first? Ian Curtis?

Run wild will either:

Get great reviews, chart very high, be a classic.

or...

Get bad reviews, not chart, disappear.

Either way, its not the kind of song people will expect from them!

If the bastards seriously want to save their (chart?) career, they'd better stick with their initial plan and release that fuckin' Chemicals collaboration first - Puttin' it frankly, I think both parties involved may benefit from that if the lukewarm reviews of "Come With Us" were anything to go by.

Can anyone ask them WHY they refuse to release Turn My Way ?

Gosh.. what a waste of a major hit song... (at least in North America)

Amen, Nic. TMW is my second favorite, and because of the presence of the otherwise-Bastard-Child-of-Satan, it could do reasonably well in alt-indie circles.

I think he may have been toying with you ;)

Not sure.. I think this song can actually do pretty well.. it's not because we, as New Order fans, mostly don't like it, that non-fans will like it.

It's not representative of New Order, I must say, so I wish they don't do that.. I think they are aiming for Close Range, otherwise they wouldn't play it live all the time.. or Slow Jam / Rock The Shack, simply because they MUST like those since they are the song they play all the time... but Close Range was always in the setlist.. so this make me think this will be the 4th single.. I still expect a little sense here and see Turn My Way released as 3rd single (and 2nd in America).

But if "Here To Stay" is really released in March as specified at dotmusic.. this means there may be no other single off Get Ready... unless they release it AFTER Here To Stay.. because the 3rd single would have been announced yet, and it's always released a month later.. so this goes to... March!

If they don't release Turn My Way, I'm kind of thinking it will have to do with an agreement with Billy Corgan or his record label.. otherwise, the label are f*cking idiots..!

I remember on a TV show called "Rock Family Trees" Hooky said people always come up and say "You guys were the pioneers of electronic music" and Hooky said "we weren't, there was others" to the camera, but when he answers people who say the pioneer comment he says "Oh yeah" and then he said to the camera "I'll take credit".

So who knows eh? Sneaky Hooky. ;)

ah...Billy Corgan does not have a record company at the moment...the deal with Virgin ended with the "Rotten Apples-Best Of"-album, so that wouldn't be a problem i guess...

cheers. :D

and remember...Hooky was the one who said that the order would be coming to America in April...I think he just enjoys playing with our emotions!!!!!

Hooky lives for playing live. You can see it in the way he hams it up on stage. Barney on the other hand still has trouble playing guitar and singing at the same time and forgets the words to songs even while they scroll across the screen. If the band voted to decide it probably went down -- steven, bernard and phil NO MORE - hook LETS FOOKIN DO IT. If they would have come, we would have probably been treated to mediocre performances of songs they're totally sick of playing. Maybe they'll come here first next time out.

Hooky is 'the man'. ;)

It's a great, full of emotions song, but I would prefer Turn My Way, it's my second fav from Get Ready. (First fav is Crystal of course :) )

From the Melbourne web chat today:

Q: Have you written any new songs since "Get Ready"?, will there be a next album?

Hooky: Yes, a collaboration with the Chemical Brothers for the '24 hour party people' film called "Hery to Stay". How apt!
