Just been in the Queen Elizabeth Hall — Forum Archive

Wandered into the QEH this lunchtime. I've seen Durutti Column there in past years, and been to a couple of readings there, but, fcuk me, I didn't really remember just HOW TINY that place really is. Have been to gigs at the RFH next door - seen the likes of Kraftwerk, Cocteaus and Public Enemy in recent years - but at least in there there's wide aisles and a front-of-stage 'gap' for people to descend on. At the QEH there's nothing. The stage is admittedly set up for an orchestra, it seems, at the moment, but the gap from Row A to the front is about 3ft and the stage itself is, literally, about 2ft off the ground. It's only just past my knee!

Perfect for a stage invasion! :wink3:

Took a couple of pics although it was next-to pitch black in there so the light ain't brilliant. . .

Nice one Al - sounds like it will be a good'un.

Shame I don't have tickets, but if everyone is meeting up beforehand, I'd be happy to go for a beer or three prior to the gig, while you all laugh at the twat without a ticket four days before his birthday :cry:

Seriously, if anyone is meeting beforehand, let me know.

Alright Chris,

Ive put a note on the forum about 2 extra tickets i bought, for 70 quid each. I know thats a bit steep but if your interested you can give us half on the night and the post a cheque for the rest the next month or whatever, im the trusting type!

im going to pap them both onto ebay if no takers, at the same price so if you want them id rather have a real fan getting to the gig than not.

anyway, up to you, if you want em give us a shout - will post them on ebay by latest tommorrow morning otherwise.

looks just like our local theatre, small and intimate. starting to regret my hasty decision not to bother ... oh well, too late now.

Probably here - Mulberry Bush. I worked round there 10+ years ago and this was just being built then, but it's off the beaten track and a Young's pub, and the only other bar round there is a wine bar which is closed afternoons!

Otherwise it's sticking close to the station, then wandering to the venue.

Probably is now. Used to be the Stamford, round the corner, on the main drag, but this has only been there a few years.
