I got my copy of "ITEM" today, and having never got the NewOrder Story until now, it gets my vote.

I'm sorry, the "N.O. Show" was just too painfully embarrassing.

neworderstory is pretty poor. a couple of interesting live performances and very brief bits of interviews aside, it was something of a disappointment.

as for the horrible voiceover done by that woman - my god!

shame really, but kind of keeps the NO tradition of everything being a shambles. still love 'em though.

Was that woman Miranda Sawyer by any chance?

No, it's posh English actress Jenny Seagrove putting on a really irritating Yank accent...

with a script that makes me cringe.

'ian curtis, snagged on the jagged line between the pleasure and the pain of it all...' or whatever the hell she says.

Yes, the writing and the delivery were both appalling.

Paul Morley to thank for the writing. He comes across as a nice bloke, and some of his more recent articles have been good, but my God, he spewed out some nonsense years ago - see the CD booklet of 'The Best Of' for a fine example of his old dross.

the writers should have picked up a copy of strunk and white before embarking on this venture.

On the plus side, though, I had never seen either Rob Gretton or Tony Wilson before (24 hr pp doesn't count obviously). And I'd never seen anything but still photos of Peter Saville.

Not a siren?

Neither Circe nor Calypso?

Isnt the WFTSC video like a cross between the new Ceremony video and the 1963 Video?

I liked the No Story. A monument to cocaine abuse (the ab being of most importance).

Crystal will always be my fav vid - even including TPK.

Does anyone know if Montreaux is on DVD or if it is being weeded? The 2 songs off it were impressive.

Story by a mile, except that I would gladly skip that "rose from the ashes of Joy Division" line.

I don't really think either DVD is comparable to the other because they both serve different purposes. Collection has all the promotional videos, and NewOrderStory has the documentary. They're more complimentary as part of 'a' package rather than being two seperate products competing with each other. Even though they may be seperate releases in certain countries.

For me they both have good and bad points, some shit videos on Collection and some cheesy/reduntant parts on NewOrderStory such as the female voiceover trying to add a sense of weight to the 'legend' but failing miserably
