I bet the band have absolutely no idea of the carry on in these forums..Boats to sail,and tanks that need polishing leaves little time for internet crac...Tho we all must have wondered if the band do at times, read the messageboards?I know I have..Maybe they Post under an alias and are amongst us... 
New Order is a business (they do only seem to play festivals now). We are their customers. Sometimes customers must be pleased. Generally customers are a pain in the arse but of course are a necessary evil.
I think they are in the "twilight years" now and are making up for lost opportunities (or the mispent dosh of the past).
I think they love making music still - or they would not still be doing it. Lucky for us it's still great music.
I'm sure Steve has visited the forum. Before Retro came out I started a thread about Cries and Whisppers vs. Mesh that generated a lot of discussion. When Retro came out the track listing had a comment about the confusion between the labelling of these tracks. The liner notes also refer to us (internet site fans) as "worryingly obsessive".
I don't think they otherwise give two much thought to us. How much do you dwell on your job? They have lives, families and interests too. This is our obsession and their job.
"Worryingly Obsessive" bit harsh....You can see their point. If you were in their shoes, you too may be freaked out with all the irrational interest/Topic/discussion generated here at NOOL.Life must be a hoot for The Order in reality by now..but they pay the price of havin obsessive neworderites on a worldwide network.Its all good tho surely?

this coming from a man who lives in brazil, a country whose capital city is in the middle of nowhere and looks like an airport.
the one thing about fan sites/ fans on the internet that always seem odd IMO is that people will go on without restraint about ... "insert whatever name" is great, I absolutely love them they are geniuses, their song/album is the incredibly greatest fucking thing ever ...BUT these other songs/album they did which are different are incredibly fucking horrible and stupid and worthless without question
they like someone because they are different, but then bitch because they are different in different ways and they don't want to try to understand, or at least try to get some sense of perspective... bizarre. if i was in band it would so shallow and full of double standards to me...

I think Hooky is the PR man of the band.
Makes an effort to remember regular fans names and/or faces and acknowledges them.
Probably thinks we are a pain in the arse, but at least he makes an effort to put on his public face.
Im sure that their children visit the site. Imagine how you would feel if your father was discussed so much? It would be def. too much info for me.

We only discuss their public side, they are the ones who know the real them and I am sure they find the banter entertaining.
