'Singles' charts highly

Even though WFTSC as a single has fallen off the chart after just a week, 'Singles' has entered the album chart highly, going in at number fourteen.

Is this down to us or do the public prefer the Order as they remember them?

Good guess... Anyway, I did pre-order the Japanese 2CD and did buy the UK twice + 2 of the promo's (the one 2CD-R with 'Turn' + the same 2 CD-R with the embossed gold lettering gatefold sleeve) but, well, anyone reading here should know by now that I'm a die hard Nuo. addict. I'm really not surprised. I expected it to do well.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, don't really think that number 14 is that high.

i reckon warners would have hoped for a top ten entry - especially when you consider that Ian Brown's "The Greatest" went in at number five the other week.

But i guess 14 is Ok considering that some people won't buy SINGLES, because they've already got Best Of or International or Rest Of or Substance or Retro, or have simply got all the tracks on various album and single formats.

singles a deffo waste of time - should have waited until another couple of albums had come out first.

Dont really think its that good either. There was only 2 other albums worth mentioning out last week-the obvious being FF,while the other A Final Hit by Leftfield did even worse-only reaching a shocking 31! Thought NewOrder and Leftfield would have both made top 5 if im honest.

And look at all the other crap that went in the chart above the Order - Franz Fuckingferdinand predictably at number 1 (smug irritating art-school fop-rockers), Paul Anka (!!!!) at number 9, John Lennon - again - at 11 and....dear oh dear, those godawful jesus mullet grungers Nickelback at number 13......

Next week, I predict "Singles" to have dropped well out of the top 40, probably 3 weeks in the top 75 at most I reckon. It's the way ALL New Order records fare these days without exception - no single tops 2 weeks (unless it's top 10 in which case it's 3 weeks), and no album stays longer than 4 weeks in the top 75.

fiery furnaces?! oh... franz fucking furgeson. bah. the leftfield is no shock. they only had two albums... i wont be buying any best of by them, even if they are grand. get back together! put out an album!

as was the ladytron album which is rather good imo

Not forgetting The Fall's excellent new album too. Very, very good.

Don't forget New Order had the DVDs come out last week which might explain why Singles didn't chart higher. Plus they've released a few singles/best of already. They released 'Waiting for the Sirens Call' this year. Released three singles. And there's supposed to be a new album some time next year. That's a lot of money, especially when you're getting older, tighter and the current economic sitaauation. Still, I got 'Singles' and the DVDs for free so I'm not complaining.
