The big NewOrderOnline give away competition has started, in the last 6 months, various labels gave us some copies of some CDs, 12", DVDs and other things to give away, the competition is now opened.

To participate, you must be a registered member, and go to the Community Contest Page.

Several copies of the Waiting For The Sirens' Call album, Krafty singles, Item DVDs, and other items are now offered to give away, other items might be included soon.

This means I'm not sure of what I still have, and I have to contact some people to make sure they still want to offer us giveaways, those offered are what I have at my house right now, hence why the shipping is all yours unfortunatly.

I might find other items, I'll dig and add them if I find them!

awesome and the fact thats it opened to folks outside of the uk! (or did i read it wrong?) makes me feel fuzzy inside...

Just remember that you have to pay the shipping fees though! So shipping from Canada to your home.

And I fear the 12" will cost more than buying them in a shop for people in the UK... the rest should be ok.

 Yay!

Any idea when contest will end?

Thanks Nic, great idea.

Not necessarily, I just don't want any of these. Can't see the point in buying the same things over and over again just because they have New Order on the label.

Same here...esp. when Nic said the bit about the 20 slipcases being only available to winning NOOLers outside the UK..I was NEVER going to pay the absolutely insane prices they were/are offering them for on Ebay...I,like a lot of us I'm sure either have rent(or mortgages)to pay and we DO need to eat(& enjoy the odd glass of wine/lager/other alcoholic bevvy{insert choice here}). Once again, all praise to Nic for his efforts chasing up all these bits and bobs for us to compete for.

youre man from florida must look at too much fox news.

i am glad bout this competition, but the whole item dvd thing is stupid because on amazon.uk you have to buy the 2 dvds separetly, so good luck to you if you get them in one box.

An idea is if you haven't got Paypal (and can't sign up to it) is to send Canadian Dollars through the post (well concealed, and in registered post)...

Paypal, really, is the universal currency nowadays, so if you haven't got an account, buying stuff over the net is extremely difficult! :)

Entered the contest for the slipcases, found all three singles this afternoon, a bit to my surprise. If I don't win, that's alright, always happy to add new New Order 7" to the collection. Cheers for the contest Nick!

I just received 5 copies of "Singles", US version to give away on the date of their release.

I'll add the contest later today, opened for Americans only :thumb:

I am new to this site...had problems registering....finally was able to work around that.

I used to get promos for the radio station that I DJ on, from Factory, and several other UK labels...(I also write reviews about promos and demos on our site) but in recent years, I have not recieved any new airplay promos from your label. What gives? Is it because of the loss of our old website a few years ago?

Do you guys need my mailing list info updated?

http://www.taimaui.orgwww.taimaui.org/new (new interactive part of site) See these for info

We have linked back to your site on our new part of our new site here.

Good luck all.

On the promos, I am looking to replace some 12" unavailable singles from the Techinque EP, and a few earlier ones, which were stolen from our studio recently....Vanshing Point 12" (had nice b-sides) MR. Disco 12" (also nice) and a few others from that EP are gone, and listeneres are constantly heckling me to play them, but I cannot locate replacements.demos@taimaui.org for info on sending promos.

I have bad news for you... Factory bankrupted.. :evil4:

Other than that, we are not affiliated with Warner at all, so you are not at the right place to request promo copies...

Hum, if I had a 3rd postcard set, I might consider.. but I like the idea of having a backup in case of disaster :D

No harm feelings I hope ;)

As for promos.. c'mon, they are just a bunch of home made CDR, any copy would do the same thing!

I didn't realise Factory bankrupted...(and it turns out that some of my promos were from Qwest, and others, and were given me before I DJ on radio, as a club dj.) I have not been up on things so well. It took me a few years to even get to be able to post on this site, as I have poor internet access in my area, and logging on even now is rather dodgy.

The promos you ask about: I have to look that up in my files, if i can find them. It was quite a while ago, and I forget the tracklists. They were indeed 12" pressings. Also, I forgot, I had "Run" too. I still have Fine Time and Round&Round. (great b-sides on those too! one nice instrumental called "Best and Marsh") I also still have two 12" copies of Blue Monday (one promo, one I bought, fun b-side dubs also, and a b-side track called "Don't Do it" which I ended up remixing a slightly longer version of it.) and Bizzarre Love Triangle, (cool b-side dub called "I don't care") and a New Order megamix of a few different songs on a white-label promo pressing. Good thing these were not also nicked when I was robbed.

Some of my promos from various labels were cdr, (Plan B records was very good for these, Red Flag, bless their souls..I was to collaborate with them, before Mark Reynolds died, but that is another story) and I have gotten some on 1/4" reel long ago...and I get promos on Minidisc, and DAT too.

I wish they'd re-release the entire unavailable b-sides and the entire extended remixes and dubs, as that is primarily what I play on-air, and in the clubs, and the non-commercial and older stuff, dub and xl mixes seems to be what the people want to hear the most.

I sometimes make my own remixes, when I feel a track deserves to be a bit longer. Under five minutes, for this kind of music, seems too short. That is why I prefer the extended mixes over the album cuts. I ended up remixing "Perfect Kiss" that way, long ago, (mid '80s) when I first started remixing, before I have heard the longer version, when I had first gotten a copy of Low-Life. I made the break longer and flipped part of it backwards, made it a bit psychedelic...it worked. Did the same thing with "Elegia". :thumb:

If you can confirm these, I believe nobody ever saw a Vanishing Point 12", although there were rumours about promos in 1994...

Factory bankrupted in 1990, they sold everything to London Records.

As for Mr Disco, is it that promo?

Or a promo of its own?

If you want to check out, check this site:

Might be easier to navigate than mine ;)

Yeah, "Vanishing Point" was rumoured as a single, but (to date), I don't believe anyone else has seen a promo if it? If one were to appear, it would probably be prohibitively expensive (even to me!). The only remix of "Vanishing Point" that's surfaced so far is the instrumental "Making Out" mix (for the TV drama, "Making Out" - essentially a track by The Other Two - aka Steve and Gillian).

And "Mr Disco" - the only time that's appeared on a promo single is in Brazil (see Nic's scan, above), with a couple of other bands on the same record.

So, any information - tracklistings, or memories of what mixes were on them, would be very useful! :thumb:

There's a DJ-only promo of "Don't Do It" (remixed by someone - I forget who?) that was released - that could have been you?

Well, you never know - when their new album is due (within the next two years, apparently), Warners/London might entertain us with album remasters/new compilations/etc? After all, major labels will do anything to try and make some more cash out of a back catalogue! :p

(me) Well, now I know why they were nicked! They probably cashed in on them, as they were so rare. Well, that 12" pressing of the "Don't Do It" remix is news to me. If it was my remix, it was released without my knowing! I would like to hear this one, and if it was my remix, would like to know who released it, as I would like to 'have a little talk' with them regarding it...sounds like it was a bootleg. I am sure the band wouldn't appreciate that very much either, as they may not have gotten their due for it, if it is a bootleg...but it is unlikely that it is mine, as I closely guard what I have remixed.

Also, I never released any remixes I have done...I just gave them club and airplay...to take a great track to new heights for the audience, is primarily the only purpose I have in remixing. The original master stays in my studio, and the copy I play never leaves my sight...wouldn't want anyone to bootleg them.

I have remixed enough New Order tracks (not to mention The Cure, Xymox, Depeche Mode, Red Flag and others) for an entire album of just that sort of thing, if New Order were to ever get ahold of them and release them. I must have done a dozen remixes of this band...my remixes are simple, though, and pretty much leave New Order's music intact...I am not one of those remixers who just take the vocal and shove their music aside and plop it on a new track. (coughs "Ammand" as Van Helden did some aledgedly bad remixes of this sort for New Order) I like remixes to have the intended sound of the band intact.

Interesting site, the one you guys mentioned...and the promo you mentioned, it was on its own, but I have seen that one.

Speaking of "The Other Two" that is something else, that is also entirely missing, that I want to get new copies of. I really liked their material.

Speaking of side-projects, I have a cdr promo of "from the hip" by Section 25, that also has alot of bonus tracks from singles...it appeared out of the blue a couple years ago, someone that was affiliated witht the old Factory label mailed it to me. Good stuff!

This sort of music is hard to find in my area...the music stores SUCK! :nonono: You never hear anything about New Order, and they rarely ever put out ANYTHING by New Order (or any other similiar artist) unless it is the very latest or most commercial release. I tried to get the "Retro" five disc set....they couldn't even order it. By the time I found out that "60 miles an hour" was released as maxi single, it was already out of print. I think that is what is killing the music industry, and killing great labels like Factory. Unless it is Garth Brooks or the latest flavour-of-the-month hip-hop or pop/r&b act, you cannot get it...Radio only crams this country, rap and pop drivel down everyones throats in the USA...and ignores bands like New Order, The Other two, Xymox, Red Flag, etc, and unless you are affiliated with Clear Channel and any of the three remaining major labels, forget having your releases promoted well at all. And the cool stuff gets out of print so quickly, and they wonder why people bootleg to get this unavailable music. MP3s have killed the industry too, as nobody wants to buy music anymore.

I run a small indie label, and I know. And, you will never see me telling anyone they can't get anything from Robotique Records for being out-of-print! Even if I have to make a cdr copy myself of what they want, I will see to it personally that they can get the music from my label that they want, without them having to resort to piracy to get it.

I really hope New Order and their label releases all their unavailable stuff soon! It will do them a world of good, not to mention how much good it would be for us die-hard fans! I think if it was ever recorded, you should be able to get it if you want it. That is the approach that would be very refreshing to see labels such as the one New Order is on to take note of...and do it! I say now is the time. Screw waiting till after their other album is out. And, these under-rated bands like this need more aggressive promotion. You'd be surprised to find out how many people in my area never even heard of New Order.
