Royal Festival Hall, '84 I think.

I need the lyrics.

Not a demo rather the first time they played TPK. Lyrics only used once, changed from gig to gig until they evolved into what was officially released. Search fro "From Cock to Kiss."

Anyway the link below will entertain you for hours.

NO gigs

The Perfect Kiss (aka I've Got A Cock Like the M1) 14 May 84 Royal Festival Hall - London England (lyric transcription based on 'Digital' Mike Garrity and 'twist's efforts)

I've got a cock, it looks like the M1 It's long and thin, it's got a white line down it It curls about, it curls about There's grass hills (or 'crashes'?) on, and service stations too

I've got a cock like the M1...like the M1...like the M1...

This is about a man called me and you a night for us, just with you Of all the things we need some now Before the end comes to our home

This is the first time, this is the last time I saw you in front of my house You had a shotgun, you had a knife You shot(?) at me and killed my wife

How did you get your name in front of me? Cuz I found you like I knew I should I won't get laid with them...cuz belsen was a gas...

Artificiality, artificiality, artificiality, Artificiality, artificiality, artificiality

I looked to the right I saw my ride You saw me with her long legs You said 'I am at last on my own'

its not your own fault.... its not your own fault.... its not your own fault.... its not your own fault....

Genius.

and awful.

it takes a lot of guts (and alcohol) to belt out an unfinished song at a gig. it's sad that there isn't really another band that takes such a risk at concerts/gigs that cost money, but i suppose there is a reason for that....

Very few other bands that that are not or were not enslaved by their labels and forced to conform. Lyrics seemed to come last. Give it a go in front of people see how they react. Maybe it was like building something. Put most of the effort into creating the structure but sneaking it out to test it before putting on the last coat of paint. Or maybe lack of rehearsal time. Whatever it was I think it was a wonderful gift they gave to their audience and fans.

Don't suppose there's a kindly fellow that has an mp3 of this lyrical err... masterpiece they'd be willing to share. :)

      Got it with no problem :thumb: My most hearfelt thanks.   I must have it somewhere on an old tape, but I haven't heard it for a long time and it was great to hear it again with lyrics. I must say I could even prefer this to the final version, a bit like I prefer the Bruxells 81 EGG and the Shevchenko Temptation... those rare moments of state of grace, of absolute genius...

not sure whether you're just being silly or not but you might want to check this page though

Is it supposed to be known worldwide? UK motorways are not part of the geography program in Belgian schools

We didn't study it in my school either Ben...but I did know what it was...

I think you should see the video in its full glory on the wonderful Umbrellas In The Sun DVD, available at Sister Ray Bernard shouting "Jesus I love you", barking like a crazy dog and banging his head with the microphone over a merciless messy and storming sequencer is my favourite moment in the whole history of music. :thumb:

Or... can anyone post an MP3 on YouSendIt? :confused2:

Anyway, the DVD is very, very recommended. It's not the same impact without the video...

don't worry. the only reason i know what it is is because i lived in the UK and have driven up and down it many times. no, it's not taught in schools, at least not here. i wouldn't expect anyone outside the US to know what the US interstate system is, either.

now if he had a cock like the I-95.... :evil4:
