Its a top place. Bit like a cinema with the lower floor chairs removed and a bar on the lower floor and a separate bar in the lobby. I was there again last month and they came round with ice cream like the good old days!! Drinks are expensive but they dont search handbags so i usually take my own vodka! And it gets really hot too. U can push your way to front if standing but if you seating its limited to move about. But you are able to go to standing area after about 2 thirds through the gig. I cant make this one and im really pissed off bout it, hope you have a ball!!

it's an awesome venue inside though, when they rip the lower seats out to create a standing area.

Boomy acoustics 1000 standing, you know the score:thumb:

can't wait, Apollo will be perfect, bit faded round the edges, not too big as well unlike the MEN arena

Dunno where you've been to in order to make comparisons?!

It's a big sloping venue like the Brixton Acadmey. But not quite as big.

Oh, and there's no decent boozers anywhere near it.

I have been to Brixton a few times.

I went to see British Sea Power (yeah I know!!) at shepherds Bush empire. Is it it similar to that?

Did you sit on your hands?!

Nope, not like that at all. That's got a very flat floor downstairs, and is a very high building. There's 3 floors in the Empire isn't there?!

It's a smaller version of Brixton, that's my best description.

mini brixton is a good likeness

some bouncers still favour the satin bomber jacket / earpiece combo .

some of 'em are kuntz

the rest are twatz

most bouncers are

'cept big les who now works for SJM

the appsley is too small

unless your a techie early in the day , when it's not packed.

it's handy for the soundcheck

and if your a stalker

or an autograph collector ,some techies let interested souls into the soundcheck , 'cept stalkers , who are over-interested . it's good as a last minute meet up place fer stragglers , and also handy for negotiations with the local street based economy at a grass roots level, so to speak. and touts pop in too , again some are kuntz , whilst occasionaly turning saviour at the last minute

Did you sit on your hands?!

Yes of course for most of the gig, but i did clap politely when a man in a big grizzly bear outfit came on and had a fight with the guitarist.

I think i may of even really let go and shouted Hoorahhh a couple of times !

Thats' pretty much spot on. Except the sound is good at Brixton - it's fucking wank at the Apollo.

Near the train station? The one the Sheffield train goes from (if there is more than one)?

This is the said pub the last time the Order played at the Apollo back in 01. Jarvo, Tim, DC, Chris Nash and all the other fuckers who give you a bad neck when talking to would have to get on their hands and knees to get in the front door. Therefore I suggest we definitely meet here :D

Apollo's top for a gig! Whenever you want to see a band upfront...you can get upfront. So I will be in the fleapit centre-forward.Yeah there's only Apsley Cottage pub nearby, but if you're drinking in Piccadilly, you can either walk it in fifteen/twenty minutes or there's loads of buses that stop outside the newsagents on left past Wetherspoons heading towards rail station.Anybus heading Stockport,Ardwick,Belle Vue.:thumb:
