I think JD encored this on two occasions in 1980, both times were impromptu / shambolic jams with Section 25 who were supporting them on that tour.

Right!
Sugarcane: It's a Section 25 song - their first A-Side, I believe - and it was produced by Rob Gretton and Ian Curtis. I don't know how much input the pair actually had, but it's worth noting. It's an incredible song, if I may say so.
thak you! on of those encores must be what I'm listening to, shambolic is the word, but i like it anyway.
It was originally released on FAC18 (see above), but is now available on CD via LTM's reissue of their fist album ALWAYS NOW. You can order it directly from LTM by going to their website and going to the "mail order" section.
I highly recommend you buy that reissue - not only is the album a classic, the bonus tracks are superb, as well. Girls Don't Count and Knew Noise are the standouts from the non-album cuts. Enjoy!
Money....don't....count- it doesn't count, it doesn't count!
The only things I really liked on that reissure were Dirty Disco and Oyo Achel Ada.
Strange you brought this up and strange you chose that title - read this from the Section 25 website I came across on the faclist group, there's certainly a couple of girls who count mentioned here if you pardon the pun. http://section25.com/whatsnew.shtml
