What are the chances they'll play a song or two off the new album?

There was a time when this would have been a given, but with the advent of the internet and the immediacy of music being copied etc, I can't see any way that they would do unreleased material. It'll be bootlegged before the gig has even finished these days. We reached the lowest point when someone took a Mini Disc into one of Hooky's DJ sets a year before WFTSC came out - the waves that this action caused were enough to render it extremely unlikely that they will do anything new.
Saying that though, this is New Order. Anything is possible.

Good point- hadn't really thought of that...
The live versions would probably be much 'rawer' than the finished product, so I hope this encourages them to grunge out a new cracker or two...
It would be nice but nah I really don't think so... I can see where oldMonkey's coming from with the bootlegging theory and I partially agree but I think it's a bit piss poor of them to decide against playing a new song simply because a muffled 128kbps MP3 may appear on the net post-gig. Plenty of other bands (younger ones granted) regularly debut new material on crowds before even a definitive recorded version exists. I think New Order doing this may even help them make a better record drawing on fan reaction and the live perspective.
According to reports they have more than a handful of songs stored up and I see no real detrimental reason why they couldn't select one they're happy with and blast it out mid-set at Manchester/London. It would certainly be a bit more exciting than hearing Bizarre Love Triangle or Blue Monday for the 2000th time. While it's always a really fucking good gig seeing New Order, the predictable Greatest Hits sets is getting a bit dull... and we'd always buy the record over a grainy live version any day wouldn't we? :)
yeah i guess at one time it would be a given that you would here one or two new tracks on any given tour,maybe even more.
but even then you could pick up bootleg tapes from gigs from record fairs,i should know i had a suitcase full of em.
but as has been said the internet has probally killed any notion of trying out new stuff on audiences because its global and instant rather than a locally pirated gig as was the case back in the eighties.
and now ive said all that they will go and play a complete new set.
typical new order eh.
hope of the states recently did a set entirely of old songs rarely played, lost songs, & ancient demos - they will release it as a charity download later.
Old songs when you've only been around two or three years ain't quite as old or lost as when you have 25 years worth of R&R debauchery in your veins!
Who knows.. they did rehease Warsaw and Shadowplay... nothing tells us they didn't rehease something else with those 2!

I think there is almost certainly a better chance of some more old songs surfacing before new unreleased songs, that much is true. Very much doubt they will bring any more old JD material out of the archives though. I'd settle for Ceremony myself!

Not surprisingly your knowledge of HOTS isn't as good as your knowledge of NO/JD Timbo, they've been around for longer than that, bit more prolific in terms of songs recorded per year too - the latest dust rackets (no 5 in all, 2nd one this year) has over 20 songs on it! & all given away free.

You were the pillock who was trapping off about doing it though, claiming to have a recording, which is what got the band worried about being pirated......
im getting strong vibes off worldinmotion.net that they want rid of bizarre love triangle and blue monday,etc, and in with sunrise, age of consent, shadowplay, etc. id be happy with just getting rid of NONE of them, but play various different setlists for every different gig, but still have classics like blue monday and love will tear us apart if you get me...no im kinda confusing myself here...you get my point...
I'll take anything they can offer..well, alright, I have certain songs I've heard a bit much.. but anything they dearly love to pieces.. that's the set I'd want to hear. "All Our Favorites", every stinking song they ever enjoyed playing to bits and pieces. And, of course.. if they'd just sneak in a few minutes off some new thing they're working on, I'd be pretty happy, too.

That'd be nice, but can't honestly see it happening. Still can't understand why they haven't been opening with Who's Joe this last year, it's a classic opener. Still, they know what they're doing.

Hope it does, but I ain't gonna get carried away! Someone will need to tell ATR, so he can add these songs into the set sweep. He made quite a bit at QEH I should think, nobody would have had Shadowplay as 3rd song!
