Another Bloody Blue Monday...Geez!!

Now I fully appreciate the historical relevance of Blue Monday, and I enjoy hearing it every so often mixing in all of the different versions to break up the frequent play this song gets. But, in doing my weekly tour of I-tunes to check out what new club tracks were released this week, I ran across yet another version of Blue Monday. Done this time by George Acosta!?!???

Give me a break. Does everybody need to pay homage to this track. NO has done so many great tracks, if artists/DJs feel the need to reproduce NO tracks, why all of the different takes of an overplayed song to begin with?? (Either that or BLT, which I enjoy better.)

Anybody else hear this track? WOW

Well, its inevitable that Blue Monday always come up whenever NO gets mentioned :\ohwell: I havent heard that George Acosta mix before but I dont expect much....Only last week I finally get to hear that Jamie Leon mix...and dang, my suspicion's confirmed - its just another techno-crap, even though admirably theres lotsa of Barney's vocals used in this mix

I've heard it... I don't know if I can take one more BM remix/cover.. it's been old and overdone, now it's just starting to unnerve me. I love, love, LOVE the song, and the countless times I've heard a horrible version/mix of it far outweigh someone doing a listenable and enjoyable revision.

it doesn't help that most of them stink like a dead badger. Quite like the reggae one on the "rest of" bonus disc.

Btw, I just got back from the shops and bought 'another-bloody-blue-monday-mixes' - this is the 'Club Standards' release on double BLUE (...nice!..) vinyls - has all the usual mixes, except for Dakyne mix & Beach mix which I've never heard before....and I'm too lazy to play it on my turntable at the moment...furthermore I got this new turntable which is a pain in the bum whenever I need to change speed from 33 to 45 - have to use some special lever thingy, what pain!...thats why I havent even bothered to listen to my 3x7"s of WFTSC yet plus all my INTERPOL 7"s.

I sort of missed out on the Blue Monday 2005 Remix (official) which is New Order vs Jam De Lux (or something like that). There were official promos and it also appeared on a compilation CD called "Rare And Remixed 2". Anyone heard that one yet?

Even though I think "Blue Monday" is a little bit over-remixed by now, I don't like the idea of anybody "covering" it.

just beacuse there's a new remix or cover doesn't mean that you have to listen to it.

i think there will always, in the mind of the producer, be someway to change blue monday, or have their own rendition of the classic. in most cases, it will never stand up to the original. although, it has been remixed a little too much. they'll have to mix the the color blue in 'blue monday' to 'black and blue...'!

I think you meant the 'Jam De Leon' or something like that. I heard it in a music shop last month, was pleasantly surprised that Barney vocals appeared pretty intact throughout the whole remix....but it sounded very trance-techno-ish, not my cup-of-tea.....I could almost imagine that remix being played during a Eurovision Song Contest session break. It also appeared in an Australian Dance Music compilation - WILD-FM Weekender Vol. 'whatever' - the latest one anyway....but unfortunately it appeared to be segued into the entire disc, not an individual track as such..bah!!
