Technical problems with "Singles" ? Please discuss

That was Barney abusing the audience at the Hammerstein in NYC this year. It's my favourite ever New Order gig cos they just ruined all the important songs deliberately (cos warners apparently sent a film crew for a dvd), and Barney was just Captin abusive :)

BTW Lacy, you seem to have rubbed some peops up the wrong way round here. Dunno how you managed it but i'll give you some advice....New Order fans are just like the band.....just cos they say "fuck off cunt" doesn;t mean they don;t like ye.

And as for the rest of you, this thread's a terrible dissappointment, I was hoping for all sorts of horror stories about encoding gone mad, and discs with no command directory ( yes CD players read their commands from discs, don't believe me, put one in upside down and see how long it takes you to trips the emergency override function on your player....I had one once that just wouldnt give it back til it was powered off and OPEN hit as soon as the power came back) and all u seem obsessed with is master dropouts and inverted pan.

Fuck I'm glad none of you ever reviewed any of my recordings, I'd be a dead man.:)

Did anybody notice that they reversed the left/right channels on some of the older tracks?

Ceremony/Temptation/TPK seem to be ones that suffer from this ailment. This is probably worse than a micro-glitch since if we can't trust that they can get the stereo image right, what can we trust? At least it sounded like they took the 7" from a reel source.

if the channel reversal was a simple matter of something being patched wrong ("New Deal" tape op?) with L+R transposed, then there's nowt wrong with the image, unless you're using it for meditation which will of course go wrong cos your hemishperes will be all wrong. Of course if it happened while the signal was moving to or from M+S or during the PQ encodinh....your guess is as good as mine as to what the ultimate effect on the final master.

Remastering's a fairly meaningless word anyway, Rule one of recording, you can't put signal back once it's been lost.

BTW, HAVE they chaged the compression on any tracks? that's getting into the territory of remixing, a lot of tracks rely on compression settings to enhance their groove 9and if you're a twat like me, create it)
