There is excellent footage of what I assume is the 3 piece Order playing Ceremony. Does anyone know if there is more of this gig available on video. Excellent production and certainly better than any 1980 bootleg I have heard of the infancy of the Order.

You have assumed wrongly Mr Twist....

The song was part of a 30 minute special aired on the 18th June 1981 on a programme called Celebration which was aired on Granada TV, and Gillian was playing as well.

The songs aired were :

1 Dreams Never End 2 ICB 3 Chosen Time 4 Little Dead aka Denial 5 Ceremony 6 Truth

There's more info elsewhere, I'm sure someone else will point you in the right direction, if memory serves they played 8 or 9 songs in the session.

I have this on video and DVD, but the quality is nowhere near as good as the clip on the NO Story.

Once I get a DVD-RW computer I will eventually take on the project of getting every TV appearance to DVD. Many of us have them already, but editing and gaining the best possible quality from various videos is always a bit of a nightmare, I have 40 plus videos to go through and try to work out best picture and sound quality, as well as videos which may have songs missing etc...

The problem is that with the stand alone recorder I'm using at the moment doesn't do discs that play on everyone else's foowkin DVD players. I've had many a complaint from DoN, Al, JT etc... saying they couldnae get the discs to work in their players but they would work on their PS2 or Computer or vicey versa!!!

I would hope once I got a decent computer and used the same technology as you and JT all the problems will be ironed out.

There are a few hardcore nutters who I have received DVD's from, but with some of the stuff included I have superior quality material. It will be a project where I will rely on help from several of you who already have the stuff and putting the performances in an order / format we all agree on.

That should be fun :blackeye:

I've dreamed for years if they would release the entire Celebration footage on video/DVD. It's excellent and it's of high-quality. But it hardly will ever see the light of day.. :(

the 3 piece line up was almost certainly filmed by Michael Schamberg at Hurrah's NY in 1980, no-one can confirm this exists though.

If someone asks him, then surely Shamberg would confirm it? ;)

I also have a double DVD which claims to have all known Joy Division footage if that is any use to you, as well as the Factory Documentary (the one with Tony Wilson being interviewed in the bath!?!)
