Should Bernard lose weight?

I don't know...he could if he wanted to... Although maybe losing a teeny bit of weight would be nice... He doesn't look too bad right now, though, considering his age(he looks kind of young to be pushing 50) and his past with drinking and drugs.
He lost a lot this year that's for sure.
But I think this topic is pretty irrelevant, isn't it?
as long as he can do the Barney dance I don't care. I'm not into prescribing how other people should live their lives.
He lost a ligament when I saw him live. Big-ups for the Stand There and Belt Out the Classics In Catatonic State folks later on at Coachella.

Only if he wanted to but I personally don't think he's fat. Plus, it's got nowt to do with the music anyway.

I'm not so concerned about his weight as the aforementioned dependency on autocue and his relative lack of enthusiasm for playing the guitar. There might be a (albeit tenous) link between his weight and the latter however - that red Gibson he's been using is one of the lightest guitars with hum-buckers you can get. Bring back the REAL axes, like Johnny Marr's gorgeous Gibson sun-burst ES series - now that's a weighty bugger which would force Bernard to concentrate more. And jumping around with it would be a good form of aerobic exercise et voila, everyone's a winner. Here's hoping he has a good hack on it tonight, to recall the glory days of him chopping away on the Strats...

Don't be so mean! He looks great in my opinion. If you think he's 'fat' then you're too young. Thank the Lord he's not vain enough or untalented enough to go on faddy diets and lose some personality - that's my opinion!

ok then, myself i've lost about 6 kgs in the last few weeks, and so far its stayed of. being sick has its benifits.

I agree with Maya: Barney is cute though he looks like 50 year old men normally look like: a bit old and a bit chubby:D but we like him anyway!!
He looked like he'd lost weight at Brixton but I was half way back. Mind you, some bloke was shouting 'You fat bastard' behind me. But then he was also saying 'Where's Bez?' as well.

Both my parents are in their 50s and Barney is in far better shape than both of them, or at least he appears to be.

He's looking better than he was. I was quite stunned when I saw him on stage @ Reading in '98, he'd put on shed loads. But, then again I put the same amount on within a couple of years.
The good thing is that we're both losing it. The bad thing is that he's 18 years older than me!!

Indeed. I think his vocals were best in 1993 - from what I heard on Electronic Ecstacy - and they weren't bad in 1998, but they're not consistant, either.
