After witnessing a number of instances of Barn's unique dancing last week, I've drawn up a number of hypotheses regarding his "choreography":

  1. By the time they play BLT, he is pissed, and dances as such.
  2. His body launches into uncontrolled muscular spasms, brought on by the crippling weight of his man-bosoms.
  3. It's a none-too-subtle example of showing off his new trainers when his legs are thrust out at right angles to his body, blatent product placement, IMHO OR
  4. The fucker just can't dance.

Thoughts, comments, etc..... CTD

The fucker just can't dance.

Wasn't there an eighteenth century disease nicknamed St. Vitus's dance? Perhaps Barney is in severe need of medical attention?

Or at least proper support for his heaving bosoms!

...may I suggest a Manzzeir, or a Bro, for them knockers? CTD

A Victoria's Secret bra with the little clicker in the front for the perfect amount of cleavage for every situation!

So, Candy, how many concerts did you get to and how often would you say that Barney was in key? I'm seriously curious. If they ever get back to the States, I would be interested in going but if he's out of key as much as it seems I don't know if I would enjoy it.

Surely an essential element of Barney's charm has always been his off-key vocal departures.

Mind you, "The Drunken Sailor", "The Wolf Whistle" and "The Whoop" are fairly recent additions to the repertoire. Not sure about their worth- I always put it down to pre-gig white lines.

BTW Candy, was that you winning Young Australian of the Year last week? Or some 'rock jock' poster child?

I don't reckon Barney was out of key to much .. And when he was it wasn't that bad ... ITS BARNEY ... We love him for how he is ... IT was NEW ORDER LIVE !! It was just an amazing experience for me ...

Im glad that Barney was dancing around to even if he doesn't dance like the sterotypical young raver ... He really looked like he was having fun up there ... I was watching Pumped Full of Drugs last night and thought it was so weird to compare his performance back then ... I prefer the way he is now ...

Barney´s dance is becoming so famous as "dead fly" one from Ian Curtis. Can you suggest a name for Barney´s dance?

I once saw New Order at the T&C and Barney spent the whole gig with his fists up inside his t-shirt, shadowboxing inside his top as if he perhaps had dancing breasts.

Though, of course, he possesses the real things now.

Barney seemingly spent the whole of the PFD gig either staring at the floor or gazing wisfully at the ceiling (or was that the exit!!) Certainly wasnt very animated in those days! The most movement we got out of him then was a a bit of skiing (arm movements!) plenty of gurnning! and the odd fist punched dramatically in the air - oh as well as the infamous armpit scratching!! His 'dancing' now - although it may not be deemed as cool is quality entertainment1! :)

he's just s funny guy... that dancing is pure comedy. It wouldn't be the same if he didn't do it.

Exactly! Every wedding you go to, the father of the bride or groom is always ready to show off their lack of dancing skills.

It pains me to say this....but.....I actually agree with The Major! Keep up the good Work Barney (don't mind the whoops, but can we leave the whistling alone please;) )

Barn dancing    that's too funny!!!

I have to say I love Barney's dancing and rather odd stage antics...a New Order show wouldn't be the same without it I don't think IMHO

Whilst bearing witness at the Metro last week to Barney's very energetic performance, a few of us in the front row decided he ought to put out his own aerobicise video. He could call it errmmm...Get Fit With Barney or maybe Pumped Full of Big Macs :jump: :D :jump:

Have to agree with Major and Shug on his dancing. It is unique and he comes up with something new every couple of years. And people copy it as well, so it can't be that bad. One of the best i always thought was the aeroplane/bird flying movements.

Barney is a CRAP dancer. :nonono:

And a CRAP singer. :finger:

And a CRAP dresser.

But since when has that affected our judgement of New Order?? :p

I think it's Ecstacy, it only gives you a kick when you move, thus Barney has to keep moving or he'll have to sit down.

Good god what've you been experimenting with, young Christopher? Just because they have Bart Simpson on them doesn't mean they're sweets.

Never touched Ecstacy myself, just heard some experiences about it. ;)
