i didnt realise they had been that inactive...the last time i went to see them was at the mosquito coast in leicester some seedy club....as usual they didnt come on stage until about 3 in the morning...but they funked the place to death...is this gig just a one off to pay the bills or are they back with us again...again thanks for the info

A real warehouse space tucked behind Angel Station in Islington, the Electrowerks plays host to a seemingly random range of musical interests from deep house to hard pummeling techno through hardcore to goth. No frills whatsoever here, just make sure you choose the right night to go on, or you might get a shock! The ultimate old skool shithole, and all the more charming for it
History Electrowerkz came back as a venue towards the end of the nineties. Elements, the progressive house night from Hooj, raised its profile when the club moved in on Fridays, and the place was chosen for recent one offs such as the recent Larry Levan tribute, and the ESG night set around a rare live show. The stone warehouse has always been perfect for dark and stormy nights; London's gothic, industrial and fetish contingent staked out their territory here over ten years ago, and the Slimelight continues to fester here on Saturdays
Interesting fact In the early nineties Electowerkz gained notoriety when, at a fetish event, an older gentleman took his carnal and narcotic antics too far, and ended up dead on the dancefloor
Looks like i won't be able to catch them then, seeing as London seems to be the only place they bother playing these days....as for the line up, ACR isn't ACR without Donald Johnson and Jeremy Kerr and Martin Moscrop anyway - Denise has been aiding and abetting them for so long now, she could practically be considered a fulltime member too. Let's hope their new stuff is good then...their last good LP was "MCR/ACR" and that was over 10 years ago! 
Change the Station which came out in about '96 is pretty good in parts and better than Up in Downsville, though that was not without some fine moments.
Kerr, Moscrop, Johnson and Johnson...solid as any back 4.
I'm not a great fan of ACR - but it sounds like we have an event worthy of the March piss-up

I was SO disappointed with "...Downsville" especially after reading all the reviews saying how ACR had "returned to form" after the bland "Good Together" album, so when I got hold of it, imagine my dismay when only three songs were actually any good (the opener "Manik", "27 Forever" and "Tekno4AnAnswer"). Virtually gave up on them after that....

Don't think anyone knows the current line-up but the perma-lineup for the last few albums was Kerr, Johnson, Moscrop and Quigley. I once approached Martin Moscrop in King Tut's in Glasgee and asked if he'd dedicate a track to my then girlfriend that night. He said Yes. But they didn't! Little git.
Wonder whatever happened to Simon Topping?

last thing i heard was that simon moved to new york to study percussion, but that was a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

Last I heard, Simon Topping was collaborating with various Cuban and latin Jazz Fusion bands back in Manchester as session musician. No names I know, I'm afraid.....
I am now really looking forward to this. I've always found ACR gigs to be alot less 'tense' than NO concerts but every bit as enjoyable.
It should be good fun...
