How tall are the members of New Order/Joy Division?
Bernard Sumner is about 5'8" Peter Hook is about 5'8" Steven Morris is about 5'10" Gillian Gilbert is about 5'4" Ian Curtis was 6'3"

To be fair, although Spotnick has quoted Jarvo and myself as being the sources of this data, it came from a number of people and the data noted here was subsequently revised a bit. Hooky and Barney aren't 5'8", more like 5'6". Ian was over 6 foot, Deborah told us that much, and looking at some of the photos from early 1979 you can see how much taller he was than the others.
I don't think Ian was 6'3...if he was, he'd be towering over the other members, which if you looked at JD pictures, that's not quite true. I'm thinking Ian was probably about 6 feet tall or so. I know I read on the FAQ here that Barney was 5'8 ish but I've heard other people say that he looks like he's 5'6 ish.

From the picture I've taken for my own use, the one I have with Bernard in my profile, I'm 6'3.5", so Bernard must be around 5'9" or 5'10" to be honest.
Phil Cunningham is probably 6'1", Stephen 6'0" and Hooky is also near 5'10" or 5'9" (not, I'm on the back in this picture, so it might add 1 or 2 inches to them)
There are not that small... Hooky is taller than WenOrder!! maybe we should ask Mike his height.
I've posted on this before. Bernard and Hooky are both 5'8/9 - definitely not 5'6! Phil and Steve are roughly 5'10. I'd say Ian was close to six feet but no more; if he was, he would have dwarfed Barney and Hooky on stage!
Once again, I'm 6'3" (1.92m) and in the back behind Phil and Steve, so make up your own mind ;)
The only person you can really judge is Andy Robinson on the right of the picture as he's also behind.

i dunno Spotnick...you're standing at least 3 feet behind hooky and you seem alot taller. it looks like he is 5'6". How tall is Wenorder?

Er, where did you get the information that I'd said it? I ain't got a clue how tall Curtis is. I just 'know' that Curtis was tall, same way that you do, by reading other people's comments here.

I am 5 7, John is 5 8, in the pictures we have with Barney, he is cleary taller. So Barney's at least 5 9. Hooky probably 5 8? Steve & Phil 5 10?

In fact, I'm in between 6'3" and 6'4", and no, I'm not confused with metric as I have no clue what my real height is in metric

All I can think of is that Monty Python sketch with the history professors, and basically their importance and authority depended entirely on how tall they were, resulting in many human pyramids and such.

3 days supply if weekend or day off or 5-6 days supply during sensible mode. (Which isn't very often). Yesterday was the weekend and now I wish it hadn't been cos I've got the very sensible VAT return to do today. Yippee!
