Listening to Vernon Kay going up the M11 on Saturday and he had David Walliams on his show. Dunno if anyone saw the new Little Britain last Thursday but they had Anne, the psychiatric patient, doing Celine Dion on Stars in their Eyes. Vernon asked Walliams who he'd like to play if he ever geniunely got to do Celebrity Stars in their Eyes, and he answered, Ian Curtis of Joy Division.
Another celebrity fan perhaps?
Quite possibly. I think Mark Wailliams is quite creepy at times. Maybe he'd be good at doing an Ian Curtis impression.

I must say I was torn the other night between taking in every second of the UK hall of fame and watching the new series.

Walliams said in NME a few months ago (when NO were getting their Legends award) that he was a big fan and Run was his favourite NO track. He said he knew all the lyrics. I remember being impressed because just about every other muso-celeb they interviewed listed Blue Monday as their favourite track. A bit lazy listing their most well known tune!

JD got a mention on that apalling thing on C4 about the girl band. One of the lasses was copping off with a fella, but before she'd shag him he had to answer the question "what was JD's best single". He starts to say "LWTUA", but then changes his mind to "Transmission".
It was the right answer and he got to fiddle with her minge. Heartwarming, eh?

I wasn't too impressed with the first episode of little britian in this series, i hope it doesn't go the way of Bo Selecta, have a fantastic second series then the third is a big let down,
have to agree with you, pat stewart apprec. soc. I only got to see the 1st episode of the new series last night, and I have to say that I was massively disappointed. There didn't seem to be anything new, just a sense to outrage a liitle more........ Let's hope it gets better.... Just my point of view mind....

Agree with the above 2 posts (so thats 3 of us) that Little Britains openign episode of 3rd series was indeed.....PANTS!
Think it probably should have left it ater 2 series. Its now predictable, mainstream and too obvious. Even tired of Lou and Andy. Maybe it will get better but the opening episode is usually one of the strongest.:\ohwell:

Mark Gatiss was the script editor on the first series of LB. But it is a pale imitation of LoG. I heard Gatiss say they even ripped off some of their characters, which they have. Don't mind LB though but Walliams is creepy and a smug git too.
David 'Walliams' (ne Williams) was in a couple of theatre productions with me and a friend in sunny New Malden, Surrey. I always got on alright with him and kept playing both New Order and Joy Division on the Theatre sound system (probably 'Technique' time) while we were building sets for the plays. Perhaps that's where he first heard them - he must have been late teens/early 20's at the time.
I remember his nickname was 'Pizza Nipples' don't ask...

LoG is several lightyears better that LB, and Gatiss is right when he said they've been ripped off a bit.
In a sense, Little Britain is to The League of Gentlemen what The Cure is to New Order, ie in parts a direct ripoff, and in other parts more original yet lame, IMHO.

Personally I think its pretty poor. it manages to combine a retro-throwback-to-the-70's bully-the-vulnerable kind of humour with the unfunny do-the-same-sketches-over-and-over-again-and-rely-on-catchphrases trend that started with the Fast Show. I reckon the only reason it got such attention was because everyone got bored with praising The Office all the time and it was the only new Brit comedy around.

Nope, no disagreement here. I (and everyone I know) thinks that 'Little Britain' is utter crap. Oh well. It keeps the chavs happy and (for half an hour or so) off the streets...
