I once heard New Order described as "Status Quo with synthesisers" quite cutting when you think about it.

That git - thingy - erm....... what the hell is his name? Old Radio 1 presenter -......... Mike Reid???? refused to play both? Oh no, that was just the Quo, cos he was sick of the same chords, over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over .......................again! Hang on, that was Frankie goes to Walsall wasn't it? However, Radio 1 did refuse to play Status Quo - did they refuse to play NO as well? Let me win.....

Same school(s) at a guess. Seem to remember hearing about a connection somewhere.

Clue: It was something that Francis Rossi said on Des & Mel yesterday.

until you said that, I HAD been thinking it was to do with the fact that Hooky's starting to adopt that bow-legged look on stage like the Quo.....however given where our boy mounts his plank, he's almost certainly doing it to give his bollox a chance to cool off, I can vaguely recall a few imptomptu "dance moves" of my own at particularly hot gigs, tho mainly just to get em clear and free to dangle again :)

(BTW, anyone here who plays a stringed round the neck instrument NOT manage to get themselves in the vitals with it at some point??)

Anyway, in light of your clue it must be some pathetic record they both hold, regarding sales or longevity.

Or is it just that Quo were better once (in the fuckiin 60's in there case when they were blasted the whole time and knew more than 3 chords) as well?

This ones easy - they have both been graced with my presence over the last few days. New Order at Manchester and Brixton. Status Quo at Brentwood.

What do I have to do to claim my prize.

Fooking piece of piss this one -both bands have a member who plays his axe whilst standing with his legs splayed apart. :p

Francis Rossi heard these words to a song and decided he wants them on his headstome "I've been getting away with it all my life". Yes, I know it's Electronic but seeing as Barney is in New Order too, I chose that as the connection at this end.

Remember Hooky likened NO to the Quo and Bernard told him to stop doing it just in case the analogy stuck!
