Ok, as maybe a few of you know, me and my fellow band members are in the process of making a New Order tribute album... Here is the tracklisting so far, nothing official yet:

  1. World (The Price Of Love)
  2. True Faith
  3. All The Way
  4. Shellshock
  5. Crystal
  6. The Perfect Kiss
  7. Brutal
  8. Dream Attack
  9. State Of The Nation 10.Don't Do It 11.Doubts Even Here 12.Special 13.Subculture 14.Everything's Gone Green 15.In A Lonely Place 16.Love Will Tear Us Apart

As New Order fans, would you see this in a store and pick it up? btw, it's all techno/metal (I'd say Industrial, but that's so broad a category) and I just want to know what you think? Nothing's official yet, it's just an idea.

I don't buy CD's...but I might be tempted to steal this one!

....maybe skip the Republic tracks IMO - or consider Regret and Everyone Everywhere as replacements???

But, yeah, I'd buy it, despite the "Industrial" tag.... CTD

Erm...well...that depends. Do you guys suck?

Oh course you don't, and yeah I'd buy it, but only because I sort of know you from the board, not because it's New Order product. Consider this: not only don't I have any of the existing tribute albums...I don't even own Movement (anymore). Sales, I believe, would be made on the strength of any following you have established. Fans of your style would be more likely to pick up a record of New Order tracks than New Order fans would be to pick up a techno-industrial record.

I'd love to hear a sample if you have anything recorded.

If you hadn't mentioned the words 'metal' or 'industrial' I would definitely have got it. Just make sure none of em sound like that Orgy Blue Monday effort

I think it´s a good mix. You have everything here: Hits (The Perfect Kiss, True Faith, Love Will Tear Us Apart), less known tracks (Brutal, Don´t Do It, In A Lonely Place), good ones (Subculture, Dream Attack, Crystal) and bad ones which can possibly become good ones (Doubts Even Here, State Of The Nation, Special).

I´m looking forward to hearing this tracks from you.

Logan my friend;) The best way to get people interested, would be to post a couple of samples in the multi/media section on here - when the album is complete, that way people can tell you what they think - and you can tell them where they can get their hands on it:nod: sounds good by the way;)

Post 1935 Mussolini fires Italian cabinet, German Luftwaffe officialy created by Goering, 30mph speed limit introduced in UK, Jesse Owens breaks 5 world records in 1 day, Anti-catholic riot in Belfast, Hitler bans Germans from marrying Jews, Germany legalises anti-semetic laws in Nuremburg, Italy invades Ethipia.

No no. Don't worry. Orgy was pure guitar, we are more like... New Order. But heavier..?

Haven't you seen the gig pictures on here recently? What could possibly be heavier than New Order circa 2002?

;)

How fast can you play all them songs? I think it'll really kick ass if you could get them ALL to last under two minutes long! :) :) A real slap around the chops, me thinks... Especially love to hear "World (POL)" done at twice the speed of the Ramones... that'd be cool!

I'll say this much, it is an interesting line up of songs...and i'd like to see/hear the final product

You know what I'd like to see?

New Order songs with an Orchestra!

Just like Metallica did on S&M (not a Met fan BTW).

Imagine True Faith with some Violins and stuff ... and 1963 with a Piano and Violins (yes I like Violins) ... NOW that's a tribute! ;)

Z-Man, it's been done. Funny you should mention True Faith because that's the most (in)famous of the tracks. I don't have the orchestra details, but I think it was a UK release mid-late 1990s. I'm sure someone here is sad enough to own a copy ;) and can fill in the details.

That had potential to be very bad/wanky. Just imagine Blue Monday with an orchestra backing it up, they could end up like some wank 70s prog rock group.

but on the otherhand it could be done well, maybe.

Some one should get their finger out of their ass and do some Country & Western renditions of New Order favourites.... yeee-haaa!!! Now THAT would be truly novel!!! :D

Like to see them then get their laughing gear round the likes of World In Motion, Rock The Shack and State Of The Nation then.... haw haw haw.... :spit: :spit: :spit: :spit:...and see all those clueless fookwits tryin their damned hardest to LINE DANCE achy-breaky-stylee to those licks!! Oh yes!

Well, our World is the about 4:00 or so. Not too much of a tempo change. But Doubts Even Here is about 6:00... I don't know. Most are shorter and faster though.

Oh great it's been done?

I'd love to see the video of that (if it exists) or at least the CD.

And yes something that 'risque' can go very bad, but it can also be groundbreaking, I don't know, haven't heard it. :)

i think you should put bizarre love triangle on there.

and what is wrong with the orgy version of blue monday - i like it...sorry. next you'll be telling me you don't like the marilyn manson version of sweet dreams by the eurythmics!

Also 1935-Himmler takes over Gestapo (despite his denials of such in the North Minehead Election skit of Monty Python)

I would be interested in a cover album tribute to JD/NO, but so far I haven't run across one worth investing in. I'll definitely look for yours though.
