Jetstream Dubs acetate

I think it's homemade. Warner Bros. CD acetates (advances) have different disc labels and the generic WB white card stock in-house insert.

Hmmm... well, I can only really say from my experiences with the British promos. If this was advertised as a UK edition... they come in a variety of packaging - clear pvc pocket sleeve with b&w press release, cardboard sleeve with pic & printed CD and jewel case with printed CD - all legit promos.

Basically, I'm saying `I haven't got a clue, but my advice would be that if you REALLY want the mixes the 'Buy It Now' price really isn't that bad, so go for it.

Not much use, am I?

I have no idea really, it could be fake and it could equally be genuine  From the WFTSC release we've learned that the record label will literally burn off a random CDR and place it in a white printed out jacket with Arial(ish) font then distribute. By the same token one of the Krafty US promo CDs (2 track) was properly 'silver' pressed and had a picture cover. It would seem the other items that seller has are genuine. Blatant bootleggers usually have worse feedback scores and his is 99.1%, he seems to be an established CD singles store.

Anyhow, I went for a copy :) It's only 9 pounds 50 pence including postage so if I've ended up with a bootleg then I haven't lost alot and if it's genuine it's a great find. Will hopefully know in a week or so!

I succumbed to buying it a few weeks ago then got to wondering if it was legitimate. But you are both right- the cost is reasonable, so it’s another item to add to the NO collection. :) If anyone wants these mixes on CD, I’d be happy to make a copy. :thumb:

CD Acetate.. a classy way to call a CDR? :skeptic:

Never heard of those before... I doubt they would have the official artwork if they were genuine, and no US promo has the artwork anyways...

It's hard to say, I'd stay away to be honest.. anyways, who enjoy dubs? ;)

i picked up one of these a while ago. the cover is definitely a budget colour photocopy/scan, but the CD looks real (the graphics are printed directly on the CD).

the mixes are the real deal too... all 3 are different to those commercially avalable.

BOOTLEG! I say!

a lot of his other stuff just doesn't ring true, too many 'exclusive' mixes. There is a whole subculture of wannabe remixers doing unsolicited mixes and this is what you'll be buying.

another one for Krafty

and another...

First item you mention is actually the US release of Jetstream! :)

Second one I've also bought a copy of (laughably, someone bought a copy from Esprit for 75 quid a couple of weeks ago! ), but God knows whether it's legit or not...?

Unfortunately there's no 'wannabe remixers' doing the rounds this time! The Jetstream 8 track Maxi-CD you've linked is definitely a genuine Warners release as I own a copy myself. The 2 track Krafty promo is probably genuine too as it lists the two exclusive Krafty mixes only the US Jetstream release got. Plus I've seen other copies of that 2 track promo from different eBay sellers as well as Esprit UK, a reputable (if pricey) online record shop.

Probably best to check the discography next time, these mixes have been around for a wee while now...

Yeah, but US promos don't have sleeves like that !

ooops! I shall leave this thread to those who know what they're talking about. You can see I haven't bothered to track a US Jetstream down yet (It's a pile of crap and no amount of remixing can fix it). You can still see the other one on Esprit's site (£75!). If they also have one then that is probably genuine too unless they got it off him.

To be honest we are still questioning whether that first Jetstream link (at top of the thread) is genuine. We still don't really know about that one. However, the seller does seem to be offering alot of genuine CDs and his feedback score is good.

Won't really know about the original link until I get mine in the post. JJ, was there a PRO- catalogue number on yours?

I tend to agree, Spotto.

That one looks fishy to me.

The font and design of the insert look different to most US promos. I wonder if there's any sort of catalog info attached at all?

Esprit's listing of it adds a little cred mind, as pointed out by Ally.

no, there is no catalogue number on it... it has the date 08.16.05, the words "Digital Clone - Not For Production", the WB logo, track listing and the words "TRT: 26:01".

the back CD surface has that blue CDR tint to it, but the front doesn't look like a home made job to me. it has a very shiny silver finish (not that matt finish you get on those silver CDR's you can print directly to using your printer). plus the ink is very dark, making me think it was "professionally" printed.

mind you, the WFTSC acetates don't have catalogue numbers either, so the lack of a catalogue number doesn't necessary imply it's a fake.

hey now what you doin.......... listen to uncle nuts ,kopy of Klafty is bootleg!

If i dont know then no-one knows!

The ploper 2 tlack klafty plomo cover looks similar to that one but the too legit to quit one has a larger wb logo and larger typeset.

You know it makes sense!

To me, the cover gives it away as a homemade job. It came with a color photo-copied cover of Jetstream commerical release (with gold stamped 'for promotion only...').

That seller - AGRF2000 - sells home-made duplicates of the more rare original promo CDs. They are nice enough, but not original (and WAY overpriced). The seller also sells legitimate promos which probably makes him look more legitimate.

The private feedback 'excuse' is most likely just to cover up mutliple reports of CDR fakes.
