Digital copy of 8:46 version of The Perfect Kiss anyone?

I'm sure this has been posted and posted and posted here, but if there's away to search past threads I couldn't find it... But, I'm looking for an mp3 of the extended version of The Perfect Kiss, I'd love Perfect Pit, too if anyone's got it. I own the original single, but I've never had much luck digitizing vinyl.

Right, I'm pretty certain it's only available on the vinyl Perfect Kiss single, but I was hoping someone had managed to transfer it. I've tried it, but my old computer isn't fast enough to record for that length of time without the CPU getting bogged down, and my new computer (Mac Mini) doesn't have an audio input.

Don't make me dig me 12" out, but isn't the main(only) difference just that it fades later?

Or does it have an ending?

Nope, just slightly longer instumental bit at the end, but the first New Order I ever bought was TPK 12" which I played endlessly that summer it came out and the version on Substance has always sounded incomplete to me.

Hey Eric what are you using? I have a pair of pioneer's cdj 800 and I'm willing to buy a numark TTX 1 just to digitalize shit, thru a behring mixer into a m-audio sourdcard - do you think this would work, I mean, be the nearest possible thing to perfect, with a low budget?

for vinyl to digital transfers, i've been using my trusty technics 1200-mk II with a grado needle attached to it. i transfer to an m-audio soundcard in my mac g4 and clean up the digitization using Peak. i then burn on to a CD using iTunes, believe it or not... all files are in .wav format or .aif format, though .wav is certainly better.

oh, and i use CDJ-1000MK2 for playing CDs. I love both of these decks - they work so well when you are normally used to vinyl for cutting and scratching.

I thought that the vinyl 12" version has additional verse that was omitted in the Substance 12" version? And I vaguely remembering some promo CDs for INTERNATIONAL has this vinyl 12" version instead of the piss-poor version found on retail release....anyone can verify that?

I used to have the Canadian 12 inch singles for this release, the silver sleeve and the promo (with Love Vigilantes on the flip), as well as on the Substance double vinyl. Sadly they all got lifted as a result of a break-in I went through when living in Vancouver. Finally got an mp3 and for some reason it clocks in at 9:00 exactly, maybe it's slowed down when it was ripped. I have to say that Substance cd edit was utter shite and they could have easily edited one of the other tracks and given TPK a proper representation on their North-American break through compilation. I see TPK as a classical peice with many peaks and lows but the 'conclusion' almost 'is' the song. With a trilogy of 'instrumental choruses' at the end of the original 12" version, one gets privy to an otherwise brilliant, complete display of New order's wizardy in the studio. Probably one of their most comphrehensive recording ever, baring Blue Monday from the lot. That songs stands alone.

the version of Shellshock is the song with the extra verse on the 12", not TPK.

That is one that I also used to have. Why are the American releases always shorter versions? I always wondered also, why this sort of stuff is always put out-of-print, when it is always the best?

I do not use Mp3s... I use Minidisc though, to compile the best songs to, in order to preserve my vinyl...sometimes I put it on CDR too, so i can play it on my portable players.

Anyone do a cdr of this one?

That's what I thought too, so I purchased the Australian promo CD of "International" - 8:01... (cost me a fcuk of a lot of money, too...)

The scans of the other CDR's seem to indicate that the versions on there were also 8:01 (even if it states "Original 12" Mix" on there)...

I'm prepared to stand corrected, though...?

Just a point of interest, at the end of the long versions of TPK, just before the frog fade out, there's a sample that goes "You won, Firepower destroyed" which is from a Bally pinball of the same name. You can imagine the gobsmack as I spent just as much of my college time playing that particular pinball as I did following NO! One of the first times they played TPK was at the Royal Festival Hall in 1984 where the lyrics were still in, er, development: "Ive got a cock it looks like the M1, its long and thin, its got a white line down it"! Just an intro to Decades as it turned out...

(me) Yeah, perhaps so. The Substance disc is quite long. But they certainly had room on the Low-Life lp! Thank you for the heads-up on Slippy's post... I will ask him. Maybe do a cdr swop eh? I am sure I have stuff that he would want.
