Warners about to Drop New Order?

Just wondering about the current lack of promotion being exercised by Warners:

  1. 7" only release of WFTSC :confused2:
  2. US Digital only release of Turn
  3. WTFSC CDs in the Amazon bargain bin :ignore:

Warners to release the left over tracks from the WFTSC sessions as Digital Only in 2006, then byyeeee?

Not something I'd like to see, but if the suits want to increase their operating margins in the next financial year?

Why promote all the new stuff when you're creaming it in from the back catalogue which promotes itself?

Besides, as long as they get paid where they end up, I'm happy enough to put distance between NO and AOL

As long as they are making a profit OVERALL (including back catalogue sales), NO won't be dropped.

The digital releases are a scary possibility which I hope to God doesn't happen!

If Digital release anything, we'll let you know Craig!

Damn, to be honest, I'm surprised how much promotion WFTSC's been getting here.

I say that thinking of bands (e.g., James, Big Country) who disappeared from the shelves in the U.S. while going strong in the U.K.

As far as the back catalog, Rhino (in the U.S.) owns that now, right? That's where we got International.

I dunno; I'm not surprised when anyone gets dropped anymore. Doesn't mean I won't track you down, though.

EDITED: 'cause I called Big Country "British" and I just know someone's gonna rag on me about it.

didn't even know they were with them.

just buy & listen.

With "Control" looming, you'd be a mug to let them go with the back catalogue being pillaged once again.

Hardly multi-million selling. But looking upon Mr. brightside they can always do a Mariah. For you sicko's out there I made sure I put the 'a' in that sentence.

probably the kind of idea...I'm guessing here....that would end in assault charges for at least one band member and Mr Wilson.

If they were about to drop them, there's at least 2 labels willing to pick them up without a problem. Not that I could necessarily identify them, but if push came to shove no doubt about it a few of their fans wouldn't mind starting a homebrew organization and giving those guys a chance to just play their music and let someone else handle the business side of things.

They'll always have their fan base. It's like those sort of jobs which ask you on the application if you can bring a clientele list with you --- yeah, I'm pretty sure they could vouch for having a group of rabid, moneyspendin' devotees who'd love to keep them in the style to which they've become accustomed to.

I just don't see Warners dropping them next year. Too much on the plate, too much publicity to still be had.

Excellent points Melly. One MINOR quibble WE ARE THE CLIENTELLE can you imagine anyone wanting to inherit us lot :)

They could do alot worse! We keep the fuckers going! Really, us running their career makes perfect sense. If you think about the history, having their fans manage them would be the ultimate icing on the cake.

I think we'd do a rather smashing job! Especially the Angels. Hmmmm. "Barney, if you want your royalties this month, theres a few things i need you to take care of first"

You would make them your Whores?that's addidas's job:laugh:

I'd be most happy to "do" Mariah. On my wife's recommendation, I'd gladly give her a big slap around her plastic face just to stop her from singing, the silly caterwauling bitch.

Oh there's fuel for another dream tonight. Last night invloved NOOL, and I suppose tonight will involve setting up a "label" for the boys.:evil4:

WFTSC was priced at £16 in HMV today. In comparison PC&L was a jaw dropping £4...

Tempted to say "better" :D

Musically and muso-ethically sounder anyway....no one to threaten barney's family to make him act like some sort of pop star on stage. Might do so well for themselve...might do better who knows.

I think if AOLTW do fire em...(which is bollox cos they are an easy earner)...as has been mentioned...there's enough knowlege gathered here to take over and become their record company. Well, unless tey wanna give up :D

ok Rhino does not own the NO back catalog. Rhino was bought out a while back by Warners...

if I remember correctly NO has always had a relationship with Warners in The USA....I mean I believe Quincy Jones' Qwest Records had a distrubtion agreement with Warners or was a full subsidiary

In The USA NO is a steady seller and in The UK/Europe can still bring in big $$

with WFTSC, Singles & Next year's record-the boys will stay right where they are

I told my local Warners label rep that NO decided to rush release stuff before they were as old as The Rolling Stones!!!

I hope that the title question does not happen, although I know that NO can still make money.

NewOrder has had plenty of attention this year from the US label considering, don't see much of a reason to bitch to be honest

as for the indie route, The Fall and Wire seem to be doing okay and still putting out quality new stuff... don't know about how much money they pocket, but the music still gets out there for those that are interested

If they made better music they would sell more records and wouldnt be in danger of being marginalized and ultimately trivilized on their way to being an "all-oldies" outfit doing Vegas shows without a record label

They should do the following;

Change their name as they should have when the lineup changed...

Refuse to play any old songs...

Dont play any dance music...

Drop the fat old studio musician (no, not hooky, the new guy) in favor of a younger fourth member who knows nothing of their history who can sing and play while Barney devotes himself to dancing fulltime...

Invent a new genre of music that is fresh, innovative and pushes things forward rather than backward...

Lose significant amounts of weight...

Just follow those easy steps and as yet unnamed new band will again revitalize rock music and popular culture and will have every record company in the world clamoring for them, driving their price into Howard Stern ranges before they opt for satellite distribution

Its all so simple isnt it?
