So, you think it sucked to release WFTSC on 7" at first?

Well, check this:

"Talk is the third single to be released from X&Y and is out this week!

The single is available as a two-track CD, a DVD and 7 inch."

So Coldplay is doing the EXACT SAME THING with their 3rd single! Except New Order did release >3< 7" with a free slipcase, they also released a 2 tracks CD single, but they didn't release a DVD (because they were about to release Item)

Only in England... :spit:

This is common place now with most UK releases. Long gone are the days of a four track CD single. :nonono:

don't see the comparison myself.

they have announced a cd straight off the bat, & a dvd.

WFTSC was announced as a 7" only.

Yeah, CD single was made due to popular pressure... FORTUNATLY ;)

I agree with Hibster, don't see much of a comparison really! ;) At least Oldplay's fans are getting a CD single and a DVD single so they're pretty much sorted in terms of getting the tracks in a high quality digital format. DVDs are as rippable as CD singles these days. Oldplay's record label will probably actually promote them too which is a concept alien to London Record's handling of New Order of late.

With WFTSC it was 3 seven inches only and the record label were obviously not arsed with anything on a digital or easy-to-use medium (it's 2006 almost). It's true we got the 2 track CD but that was only after an expression of outrage from these forums and even then I had to scour my HMV the week after the single release to find it.

As I recall there were 2 full price copies on a really out-of-the-way shelf next to the employees bog(!)
