The Weirdest New Order T-Shirt Ever!!!

I once owned a very strange long sleeved New Order top bought sometime during '89. It had a huge eyeball on it "New Order" written in a weird gothic script and "Balearic Beats" written down the bottom.

Does anyone remember it and can anyone explain what the fuck it was all about. It would have looked more at home on the back of some spotty longhair at Donnington.

the beats part is a term that was once used for techno music i think.

"Balearic Beat" is supposedly an Ibizia-influenced club music genre that was the "hot" thing for a couple of minutes...long enough to inspire "Fine Time."

By the way, the strangest NO shirt is mine featuring the cover of Low Life, 'cause it was too small the day I bought it and it just got smaller...but I had to wear it anyway.

I think Balearic Beat was only viewed as 'trendy' for a short time in the late eighties/early nineties, but it does still inspire quite a lot of decent club/electro music

I'm very familiar with me musical terminology thank yer very much. I wasn't querying the term "Balearic Beats", I was more surprised by the weird heavy metal design of the shirt. Does anyone actually remeber it ?

I hazily recall a mate- Tinny in fact, donning a white NO T in the mid-late 80s with some sort of green industrial motif on it, all sort of warped, looked like it was designed by Terry Gilliam! May have been a Ceremony shirt? Anyone familiar with this one?

I've said it before and feel the need to say it again - i'm not a big lass and the last years GR stripe skinny is just ridiculous it wouldn't fit my jack russell yet occasionally i feel the need to shoehorn myself into it - i know it's the bloomin' t shirt rather than me having rediculously large mams unfortunately :\ohwell:

Yes, that was the 84 tour t-shirt, with the UK dates on the back. Still got mine, but it's a bit tatty now ! It's also been to about 30 gigs.....
