'Your Silent Face'

Got P,C,&L and Technique for x-mas

and Your Silent Face is awesome!!! What a cool catchy song. My favorite off the two so far.

Technique is going to take some getting use to. Some great songs but... well i guess i have to give it more listens.

did it use to be true faith?

technique was their first complete album according to AHW, some crackers on there, but age of consent etc on p c & l are better individual tracks imo

YSF is one of their best songs ever imo. With classics such as AOC, The Village and Leave Me Alone on P,C + Lies you've got their best ever album just ahead of Low-Life for me. Feel free to give up on Technique, it's vastly over-rated.

Technique is, as far I´m concerned, their best album to date.I bought it the day it was released and I still love it. I´m not that fond of PCL, but I do consider it to be the album when New Order stepped out of the Joy Division shadow. So therefore it´s an important album. Enjoy your new CD,s!

I used to think Technique was their best album, but i agree with all that you've said. The more i've listened to P,C and Lies/ Low-Life- the more I think they are such amazing albums with some amazing songs on there. Much better than Technique, although i still like it as an album:)

thanks!

Technique's getting better. Its just so praised I guess I expected more... The best tracks are the singles, imo. I love- Run and Round & Round.

P,C&L is awesome but it feels like half the cd is blue monday (w. 586 and the beach). Is that a reissue problem???

Well Leave Me Alone, The Village and Age of Consent are def stand out tracks...

When the album was first released it didnt have Blue Monday or the Beach on it, when New order still believed that their singles should be left off the albums. When they moved from Factory to London records those two tracks were slapped on. The tracks don't sit with the rest of the album for me, I took them off when I uploaded it to my mp3 player.

How old are you may I ask?

I was dumbstruck by True Faith aged 14/15- the only reason I originally got into the band. Thought the rest of Substance was toss until over 6 months later: Loved Temptation and BLT though I barely listened to the first two tracks until 18 months after buying it.

I bought Technique early this year (aged 16) and it did take a few listens to get into Fine Time and a few more to realise that the tracks other than 1,2,4 and 6 were any better than mediocre. Wasn't too keen on PCL at first- too JD-y to my mind. Only in last few months have I come to appreciate the likes of Age of Consent (especially when the synthesisers come in second time round) and leave me alone.

Bought Brotherhood, having no idea that BLT was a different version: first listen was sheer joy- that was my new favourite New Order song.

I am going to be 24 next month.

You are 16?

Hey give 'Your Silent Face' a listen right away. Its so deep and the sythns are top notch! I love this song. I can't stop listening to it.

Yeah Technique is growing on me because of Dream Attack.

And Yea True Faith has and always will be the best.

What are some of your fav NO songs?

Mine are, in no order: True Faith Sub-Culture Your Silent Face Dream Attack The Perfect Kiss Vicious Streak Siren's Call

Bugger. Lost my answer as I took too long. My faves are the usual ones including ceremony and the brotherhood BLT. Though I have to ration how much I listen to my favourites as I listened to TF to death.

If I were making a film I'd use your silent face to make the love making scene.

Yes I am 16. I thought you'd be about 14 the way you'd received two key NO albums for Christmas and started a thread on a forum about how you've now got a new favourite NO song. Not that there's owt wrong with child like enthusiasm.

Hurt's a terrific song, makes it one of my top driving tunes. Shivers just climb all over me while waiting for the build to the lyrics.

I remember when I first got Low Life and PCL on vinyl. I was ecstatically high that day, practically dancing my way out of the record shop. I had already had them on cassette, but - there's just something about getting it on vinyl that gave the songs an extra oomph.

Nevermind about the nice smell to the sleeves.

PCL, Low Life & WFTSC could all be my fave, depends which one I'm listening to !

Technique is great, but has never been my No1. But still shits on anything done by anyone else.

I kinda like the flow of 586 into Blue Monday on the Americanized PC&L.

Yeah,YSF is one of my alltime favouries.I've never heard it live,so I'm well looking forward to receiving my DVD of Finsbury Park, which they perform YSF as their final track. :bass: :drummer:

Monty, love your avatar - I have Darth Tater on my desk next to the computer - I think he's hilarious.

I discovered the order throught 511 early this year aged 16. You should see the looks I get. A 17 yr old girl buying joy division albums and shirts. Classic.

Lately my fave have been Truth, The Him and Sooner Than You Think. I especially love the Zurich 1984 rendition of STYT because whoever recorded it was way to close to the sequensor/drums. The song is almost total drum beat

top song.

but Low-Life has better quality songs imo.

errr...and the tracing paper inserts are great too.

I agree with you that "Your Silent Face" is really something else!

The 511DVD version is the one I like the most despite Hooky being really out of it.

Wellington 1982 was much better [Your Silent Face} with the sequensor failing toi start up and the band restarting the song. Kinda interesting to hear the individual elements of the song.

Technique is absolutely wonderful if you ask me. It's generally regarded as their best album. This general regardation doesn't speak for everyone though, but most.

And it turns out, this is my first post on NOOL after a very long time.

For the person who loves YSF, check out the excellent live versions available on the BBC discs (In Session and Live In Concert).
