Good to see (bar Low Life)

These lists need to be taken with a pinch of salt. Sometimes they can be informative, but ultimately it is down to you to decide what albums are good.

how long would it take to listen to 1001 albums? & seems like a bit of an arbitrary cut off point - what was the 1002nd album?

strange idea for a book!

I remember browsing the book before christmas. I remember seeing a picture of Ian in a shirt I've never seen before. Can someone tell me what it says on it?

Oh boy... I have to live about 100 years more then...

What in the world are Britney, Christina, and Justin doing on the list? I'm more of a rock and roll girl, not one of those screaming bubble gum pop, teen idolizing harpies! I should have died away when I saw those three on the list!

By the way, what I said about me being a rock and roll kind of girl...

NEW ORDER is not pop! I'm tired of seeing that genre whenever I play their CDs on my computer with Windows Media Player and iTunes. Get that right. Use rock, alternative, dance, or electronica... but NO is not pop!

I dunno, "Regret" is pretty poppy...

Dude, they are way too sophisticated to be pop.

well i dunno, i barely have time to keep up with the new stuff. how can i trawl through 50 years of pop history. at least i have a good number of those from the eighties and nineties. sometime in the mid 90s it all stopped making sense. band names and song names meant nothing anymore. At least that currently isn't the case.

you are using too narrow a definition of pop I reckon... Pop can be very sophisticated Bacharach and David etc etc

OK, I changed my mind about pop. But I can't still believe that bubble gum pop is on the list. :dead:

The T-Shirt says "the sound and the fury".

The UK edition of the book has a different cover, it 'borrows' the four-profile shot of Kraftwerk that appears on the "Man Machine" album - but each of the Kraftwerk guys has a pair of headphones on.

There are some decent write-ups in the book but far too many really shite lps included (including too much Morrisey!)

Reviews, pictures etc. http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1844033929/203-3951150-1618335
