He's bob on about interpol, my work mate has lent me a couple of their CD's and It's NO & JD all the way through, entertaining though, I've converted him into a NO fan and think he's signed up on here now, you've got to educate these youngsters.

First of all i'm glad to see Hooky eating humble pie about the importance of DJ's.
Jon Dasilva was the DJ for New Order on their 1989 Technique tour, the 4th biggest grossing tour of the USA.
A certain Mr Hook despised the fact that thay had to pay this guy every night "just to play fookin' records!"

Morrisey is a Twat, despite the good musical works...
And DJing can be fucking hard work - especially at a wedding or a birthday party when every other fucker wants something different from everyone else....
Club DJing is much easier as it's all genre tracks and the punters are generally after the same sort of thing (in my experience).

If you take the singer's voice out of the mix, then hey presto you've got a band which sound nothing like Joy Division!
Mozza is a twat but a very unique sort of twat, the music of the Smiths was one of the defining things of the 80s so twat or not he is still godlike legend.

Funny thing is when I was at Hiro in New York City, I had Hooky on one side, and one of the guys of Interpol on the other... and I know both met... I wonder what Hooky told them ;)

If I remember well, Interpol had a private table just next to Hooky's table, so they probably talked... I didn't bother and moved to the other side of the place after Hooky greeted me..

Er, steady... it's not that funny 
Hooky's hit the nail on the head with Interpol and Coldplay though. Coldplay may well have credited Kraftwerk on the sleeve but it doesn't make the use of the riff any less unsubtle. It's not a very inspired way of paying homage or making new music; mixing such an established riff so prominently throughout your single.
