It is great live, but thats because it doesn't have Mr Scream caterwauling through the "get it riiiight" bits. It seems many people are slating Rock the Shack, well you lot must REALLY hate Brotherhood as most of is guitar based apart from BLT.
Fine Time - Love it Rock the shack - love it even more
I wanna see 'em do a 2 hour set doing almost everything. It's about time because they owe us it.

I loved it live (even though barney forget to sing the last 2 or 3 verses), but on CD its just dire. The only good bit is the "i beleive in politics" bit, all the rest is utter bobbins.
RTS is OK, but certainly not worthy of all this mass debate.

I'm inclined to agree with you there Sloppy, RTS starts of promisingly enough but doesnt deliver enough NO for me, i still despair at Barney for that weak chorus... what the fuck??!! :(
Fine Time would have been fine as a remixy style obscure track tucked away as track 4 on a limited ep but like RTS leaves me very lukewarm indeed :sleepy:
just what were they thinking putting this out as single, when there as so many corkers on Technique has always amazed me.... :\ohwell:
ID - if Fine Time was never released as a single - we would never have had THAT memorable performance on Top Of The Pops mate
Fine Time and RTS are flawed masterpieces, let's just say that much. I champion them both because I happen to enjoy both, but I do find faults with them (Fine Time on Best Of is way too short, and Bobby G. ruins RTS)
I gotta say i love both of them!!! Rock the Shack has got a bit of energy to it, and is quite infectious. Fine Time does manage to piss some people off but it is great for a bit of a groove, and those cheesy barry white style lyrics just crack me up. Lets keep both of them

don't like Fine Time (although i agree with Shug about the TOTP appearance)...
RTS has grown on me....it's great to listen to when driving i find...although other motorists give me funny looks when im shouting "rock the shaaaaaack" at the top of my voice....

So do people think that the techno influenced hybrid beats of Fine Time and the pseudo punk (or should that be pop)rock of RTS is indicative of the NO sound we know and love, or is it the "bastard child" of a sound NO felt they should explore/exploit due to demands which are fuelled by popular trends among music followers???
Hmm... give me Ceremony, Face Up or Temptation any day of the week ;)

It's quite dificult to hate something from New Order but, I really hate the remix of BLT included in the properly titled The Rest Of New Order. Although, I really understand that FT is a great song when you go back in your mind to the Acid House Scene. These days I don't listen to it every day. RTS is a bit diferent because the first time I listened it was strange. Now I love it, specially the BBC Sessions version.
Technique (in my opinion and apart from Substance) is their best album - although I love Low-Life. and Fine Time is an excellent track although RTS is good on Technique its got to be Round & Round - what a track!!!! What do you all think? cheers, UA

All the way has one of the best NO chorus's every written.
And love less is of course their best song... :D
